What it is like to Work with Gusto

As a Product Marketing Manager (PMM) for Gusto Embedded Payroll, your work will be foundational to positioning Gusto’s transition from an application company to a platform provider. You will ensure that our partnerships team understands the needs of software companies in different markets building embedded payroll and that those partners understand the needs of their customers when it comes to payroll, benefits, and other in-app people features.

Your primary responsibility will be to help us adapt messaging and create supporting content for different market segments. Gusto Embedded Payroll has to both help other software companies understand the benefits of owning a payroll product and enable those software companies to sell payroll to a wide range of small and medium business end-customers. You will spend a majority of your time creating internal and external content assets targeting our software company partners. But the insights you develop will be repurposed to help make those partners successful once they have built and launched their own payroll products.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting an enterprise B2B sales motion, a passion for understanding different market niches, and enjoy the challenge of simplifying complex inputs to key benefits that sellers can work with repeatedly. Gusto Embedded Payroll is the newest major offering from Gusto and we operate like a startup—candidates who prefer a rapid pace of change and a nascent, fast moving market landscape will feel at home.

Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:

  • Create & update messaging & positioning for different market segments
  • Create internal content, trainings, and enable the go-to-market teams on key messages
  • Create and maintain partner-facing collateral and sales assets
  • Customize collateral or assets to support individual, high-priority partner opportunities (including ABM tactics)
  • Collaborate with Product teams to position and release new functionality
  • Support user & buyer research initiatives
  • Update and maintain buyer & user personas

Here’s what we're looking for:

  • BA/BS degree or relevant experience; startup experience a plus
  • 4+ years’ experience in product marketing (ideal) or experience in marketing and/or product management
  • Ability to synthesize clear communications (written and verbal) from complex inputs
  • Strong work ethic
  • Openness to feedback and coaching
  • Product marketing training/ certifications a plus

Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $106,000 - $132,000 in San Francisco & New York, and $95,500 - $119,000 for Denver and most remote locations. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.
