Job Description

We are seeking a Product Marketing Lead to bring Shopify Plus products to market while building and telling the story of what makes Shopify the top choice for large, fast growing merchants. In this individual contributor role, you will work closely with product, sales, account management, channel marketing, and market intelligence teams to determine the right solutions narrative, product positioning, messaging, launch strategies, and revenue plays that show how Shopify Plus fits into the overall platform story and within our market.  

The ideal candidate will be an expert in the discipline of product marketing, bringing together a rich understanding of market strategy, the buyer’s journey, the sales process, offer definition and differentiation to drive revenue targets for the business. This person will be a creative, collaborative leader who brings energy, focus, deep craft experience and insight to deliver high-impact marketing strategies that win market share and deliver measurable results to the business.

The Impact You Will Have:

  • Strong ownership of a business area, leading the product marketing strategies and plans to meet revenue goals. 
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on the product’s value propositions, core capabilities, and market landscape.
  • Meet with PMs, PMMs, Revenue Operations, Data and Marketing teams to understand and define revenue targets and business goals, and aim cross-functional groups to prioritize focus on the right things at the right time to drive growth.
  • Partner closely with sales to understand and address buyer and stakeholder needs through the sales process.  
  • Own the strategic sales narrative used by Marketing and Sales to communicate the value of Shopify’s products to prospects and customers.
  • Own and measure success metrics, working with Data Science and Marketing Operations to scope measurement and instrumentation needs.
  • Communicate success regularly through cross-functional meetings to highlight success and impact against business goals.
  • Influence pricing, packaging and incentives for the mid-market segment.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, UX, Sales, Communications, Creative and Marketing teams to launch cohesive GTM plans.  
  • Leverage market, product, and customer insights to help define the roadmap and ensure a consistent, compelling customer experience.
  • Partner closely with cross-functional leaders and teams to share ideas and opportunities, identify strategies to overcome roadblocks, and iterate on positioning, messaging, and the marketing plan. 
  • Architect short and long term go-to-market moments, connecting key narratives to product milestones
  • Work with marketing channel owners to bring your plans to life across different marketing channels and deliver campaign results.

Qualifications

  • You have solid experience and excel in the product marketing craft. This translates to several years of experience as a product marketer leading positioning, messaging, go-to-market, and pricing. 
  • You have experience enabling and aiming a large, distributed sales organization
  • You can quantify your impact in revenue to the business, showcasing how your work directly moved the needle. 
  • Experience managing senior stakeholder relationships. 
  • Experience launching products in multiple regions, globally.
  • A highly analytical and data-driven mindset; you have strong knowledge of data tools, including SQL and Excel, and are able to leverage data and research to drive decisions.
  • You are an intellectually curious self-starter who is not afraid to ask questions and use answers to bring clarity and direction to your greater team.
  • Ability to thrive in chaos and make decisions quickly.

It would be a bonus if you have

  • Previous experience marketing eCommerce
  • Previous experience positioning enterprise products, with longer sales cycles
  • Previous experience in a B2B, product-led SaaS organization
