Tropic makes buying and managing SaaS ridiculously easy. The world runs on software, which is why companies of all sizes—from startups to Fortune 500s—use Tropic to buy software, manage contracts, and guarantee savings. Tropic is procurement paradise.

We launched from stealth in 2020, raised $65 million in back-to-back Series A & B funding, are building an incredible team, grew 5X, and are managing hundreds of millions in spend for companies like DocuSign, Intercom, Notion, OpenSea, & Zapier. Now is the perfect time to join. The best is yet to come! 🌴🚀

Our customers span every industry, love us and want more. That’s why we’re looking for a Product Manager to join the cross-functional team leading our company’s transition from the tech-enabled service we deliver today, to a seamless and intuitive platform that powers every stage of the software purchasing process for organizations around the world.

Location(s):

For this position, we are looking to hire someone based in New York.

About the role

We’re looking for a Product Manager with experience managing the end-to-end product development process, quickly iterating through technical challenges and delivering user-facing features in B2B environments.

As a Product Manager, you will be responsible for product discovery, feature definition, information architecture, project management, user experience and analytics related to Workflows, Tasks and notifications on Tropic. This includes functionality that Tropic provides to orchestrate the purchasing process for organizations, ensuring the right people are included in the process, at the right time, with the right task.

You will report to the VP of Product and constantly partner with leadership, senior product managers, cross-functional stakeholders, designers and engineers on our remote-first team distributed across North America (our biggest footprints are in New York, Denver and Atlanta), Europe, and beyond.

Our product, engineering and design teams don’t subscribe to a single methodology, instead we combine the best development and project management strategies to support the industry-defining features we’re building.

We love systems, do our best to automate or document repeatable processes, proactively collect and organize product feedback and we hope you have creative ideas to make our team and company stronger as we scale.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain feature backlogs to drive roadmap planning and prioritize new features based on user and internal team’s needs, business goals, technical feasibility and resources.
  • Manage the product development process from end-to-end for product improvements in one or many of Tropic’s core user-facing or internal service delivery focused features
  • Regularly meet with prospects, customers and teams to discuss their needs and synthesize findings to inform product strategy.
  • Analyze usage and organize product feedback for the core features you’re managing.
  • Increase transparency by surfacing, tracking and communicating the right business metrics and better feedback loops.
  • Understand the competitive landscape by keeping up with the latest trends in procurement and finance software platforms.
  • Work closely with pre and post-sale teams to launch new features, develop release communication, go-to-market plans, and drive product adoption.
  • Define and participate in systems and processes that allow the product team to work effectively across the organization.

More about you

  • You have 2+ years relevant experience in product management, including some with high-growth B2B SaaS products focused on workflows.
  • You have built products that have task management functionality and that reflect complex business processes.
  • You have successfully increased user engagement from occasionally to at least weekly.
  • You’re equally comfortable communicating thoughts, ideas and features in writing across different mediums, through sketches and wireframes of varying fidelity or when speaking in-person and on video.
  • You have phenomenal analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • You are comfortable working with products that rely on extracting and organizing complex datasets.
  • You are a self-starter and know how to get things done while working remotely.
  • You love to keep things organized, but you know when to accommodate a lack of structure for the sake of speed.
  • You enjoy working closely with designers, developers, and business stakeholders and you are able to establish and facilitate trust, respect and collaboration across a group to make informed decisions.
  • You excel in breaking down complex feature requests into small, measurable components that facilitate asynchronous work.
  • You have a strong user-centric mindset and you know how to collect user feedback and put it into action.
  • You have experience deploying different project management strategies and you don’t shy away from helping others organize and clarify their tasks for the greater good of a project.
  • You often experiment with SaaS platforms and new functionality to find new, more efficient ways to accomplish tasks. Especially helpful if you’re proficient with Figma, Trello, Productboard, Shortcut (fka Clubhouse), Hotjar and Heap.
  • You are familiar enough with databases to write a simple SQL query.
  • You may not have engineering experience, but you are able to participate and share the user’s voice in conversations about technical concepts, database architecture or APIs etc

What We Offer

  • Remote first work environment
  • Virtual & in-person meetups
  • 401k plan with 4% company matching
