Company Description

Since we first opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely – and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take a payment and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together. So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, run a busy kitchen, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. And across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow all in one place.

Today, we’re a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex commerce operations, sellers just starting out, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers scale, so do our solutions. We all grow together.

There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We’re building a business that is big, meaningful, and lasting. And we are helping sellers around the world do the same.

Job Description

Square is operated by an incredible team that is on a mission to make commerce easy for all types of businesses, in the US and abroad. As Square's flagship product, Point of Sale is at the heart of this mission, with a team that builds a product that allows sellers to succeed in today's commerce environment, whether they're just starting out or already operating at scale.

As a Product Manager on the team, you will drive impact for the millions of small businesses across the world using our platform to start, run, and grow their business. You will determine the multi-year product strategy for Point of Sale's Core Experience team, coordinating and executing projects, and optimizing the experience for sellers. Our approach at Square is both customer-focused and data-driven. You will need to dig in to understand our customers and their needs, define and analyze data, and guide our team to move fast and ship remarkable solutions.

This role will report to the Square Point of Sale Product Lead, who reports to the Head of Product for the Customers and Point of Sale team and allow you to collaborate with designers, engineers, analysts, marketers, and other team members within the organization to ensure that our product reaches customers and provides a remarkable, delightful experience. If you're looking to change the way small businesses operate and drive impact at a high-growth company, you will find this role compelling and rewarding.

You Will:

  • Determine product strategy and improve our customers' experience using a variety of inputs, and articulate rationale and data behind decisions
  • Understand our customers and their needs, and guide our team to ship remarkable solutions

  • Identify opportunities for Square and our customers, propose and evaluate projects that will be most impactful, promote them across the organization, and execute these from ideation through release.

  • Expertly and openly work with and influence cross-functional partners and partners throughout Square

  • In collaboration with engineering, marketing, and analytics partners, lead the end-to-end success of projects from discovery to launch

  • Be the point person for your product area to leadership and across the organization

  • Influence important partners throughout Square to align intent, resources, and prioritization

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of product management experience

  • Vision: You've formed, gained support, and inspired essential strategies shaping the direction of your team.

  • Results: You're excellent tactically, with experience with shipping simple, elegant products at scale.

  • Analytical skills: You have a great ability to absorb and apply data.

  • Customer empathy: You have experience shaping product direction and execution based on customer needs.

  • Hustle: You're scrappy and able to push through obstacles

  • A collaborative approach: Experience partnering in a complex organization.

  • Natural curiosity and obsession with the details

  • Experience working through problems with ambiguity and without a definitive answer.

  • Developed industry-leading products that have gained a following and product loyalty.
