SoundCloud empowers artists and fans to connect and share through music. Founded in 2007, SoundCloud is an artist-first platform empowering artists to build and grow their careers by providing them with the most progressive tools, services, and resources. With over 400+ million tracks from 40 million artists, the future of music is SoundCloud.
SoundCloud is looking for a sharp, technically savvy Product Manager of Consent & User Preferences to fine-tune our user consent and preferences strategy. You'll be the maestro, leading the charge on our Consent Management Platform (CMP) and how users dial in their preferences directly within our apps. Think seamless implementation, continuous optimization, and rock-solid compliance with global privacy rules – all while keeping the flow.
We are searching for someone who thrives on diving deep into technical details, gets privacy principles, and likes collaborating with our Engineering, Legal, Product, and Marketing crews. You'll be key in enabling data-driven initiatives, always with privacy-by-design as your baseline.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mastering Our Platforms: You'll be the go-to expert for our CMP, crafting configurations, managing templates, running cookie scans, and designing our preference center to keep everything humming.
  • Seamless Integration: Partner closely with our web and app engineers to ensure our CMP and preference settings are integrated flawlessly. You'll spot, diagnose, and fix any off-key implementations.
  • Shaping User Control: Lead the strategy for how we collect, manage, and truly respect user consent and preferences across all our channels.
  • Staying on Beat with Regs: Keep a finger on the pulse of evolving privacy regulations like GDPR, CCPA, and NIST, translating legal requirements into smart, technical solutions.
  • Your Privacy Expertise: Be our trusted technical advisor on privacy for new campaigns, product launches, or initiatives, embedding privacy-by-design from the first note.
  • Orchestrating Collaboration: Be the bridge between Legal, Engineering (Web, App & Data), Marketing, and Product teams, ensuring we hit a unified, compliant rhythm for consent and preference management.
  • Empowering Documentation: Craft clear documentation for CMP and app preference features, and help our internal teams get up to speed.
  • Analyzing the Mix: Monitor CMP performance, consent rates, and how users engage with their preferences, generating insights to inform our business moves.
  • Partnering Up: Keep the relationship strong with our CMP vendors, staying up to date with new features and best practices.

Experience and Background:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or the equivalent hands-on experience that shows your chops.
  • 3+ years of experience managing and optimizing Consent Management Platforms and building/managing user preference centers within applications.
  • A solid track record with privacy management and data compliance platforms (bonus points if you've already spun OneTrust).
  • Fluent in web tech (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) – you can read code like a pro to pinpoint implementation issues.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and deliver solutions for CMP and in-app preference configurations in complex environments.
  • A privacy pro, familiar with data processing regulations and best practices globally.
  • Understands global privacy regulations like GDPR, CCPA, CAN-SPAM, ePrivacy, Directive, and NIST and how to implement them
  • Experience jamming in an agile development environment.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills – you can translate complex concepts for anyone.
  • Experience with privacy-by-design principles and data governance.
  • Familiarity with tag management systems (e.g., Google Tag Manager, Tealium).
  • Privacy certification (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM) is a great bonus track.
