We’re looking for a passionate Product Manager to join Spotify’s Messaging Platform & Tooling (MP&T) Product Area at Spotify. This role will lead one or more squads that support our Selection domain, which is responsible for choosing the right message for every available opportunity. You’ll work on core capabilities such as audience definition, messaging preferences, and the logic that determines when and how messaging opportunities are created and passed to Selection.
The Messaging Platform powers high-quality, impactful, personalized communication that fosters meaningful and positiverelationships with Spotify listeners. Our platform enables teams across Spotify to reach over 1 billion listeners and creators annually across email, push notification, and in-app channels.
This is a pivotal time for the Messaging Platform as we scale to support more use cases and deliver smarter, more personalized messaging. You’ll drive measurable improvements in time-to-market, campaign effectiveness, and platform integration simplicity.
What You'll Do
- Develop product strategy for your area — working with the SPM in the Selection domain to clarify domain boundaries and deliver reusable capabilities that empower marketers and developers.
- Get into the weeds and drive execution — partnering with engineering to understand the current architecture, translating strategy into a clear roadmap, and ensuring focused delivery.
- Help define and maintain clear domain boundaries and APIs in your area — identifying which problems are best solved in Opportunity Generation vs. Selection, and establishing clean contracts with upstream and downstream domains.
- Partner with cross-functional teams — collaborating with PMs, engineers, data scientists, marketers, legal, and others to clarify shared problem spaces and contribute to larger cross-domain initiatives.
- Champion the backend developer experience — evolving key APIs that backend teams use to integrate with the Messaging Platform.
- Promote platform thinking — ensuring new solutions are reusable, scalable, extensible, and aligned with the long-term platform vision.
- Communicate priorities and progress with clarity — aligning teams and stakeholders through clear storytelling around roadmaps and impact.
Who You Are
- Experienced in platform product management — you’ve designed APIs, rules engines, data models, or similar products intended for internal or external developers.
- A conceptual thinker — you can break down complex business logic into scalable, composable models.
- Comfortably technical — you work fluently with engineers and data scientists on algorithmic or systems-level challenges.
- Data-driven and user-centric — you make informed decisions using insights, and know how to structure a good A/B test.
- Strategic yet pragmatic — you bring clarity to ambiguity and confidently balance long-term vision with short-term progress.
- Influential and adaptable — you drive alignment and shape decisions with empathy, adapting your approach for your audience.
- Collaborative and cross-functional — you enjoy solving problems with engineers, data scientists, and business teams.
- An excellent communicator and storyteller — you distill complex ideas into clear, compelling narratives for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Messaging domain knowledge is a strong plus — experience with messaging, targeting, or personalization is helpful, but curiosity and enthusiasm matter most.
Where You'll Be
- We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! For this role, you can be within the North Americas region as long as we have a work location.
- This team operates within the Eastern Standard time zone for collaboration.
