The Company You’ll Join

At Carta we create owners and make private markets liquid.

We live in a world where some people live on the equity stack and enjoy exponential wealth growth and preferential tax treatment; others live on the debt stack and may work their entire lives for a company and retire only with the cash they’ve managed to save from their paychecks. Our contribution to solving the wealth inequality problem is moving people from the debt stack (payroll) to the equity stack. By making it as easy to issue equity to employees as it is to put them on payroll, we can create more owners.

At Carta, we are helpful, transparent, fair, and kind. We are relentless executors, unconventional thinkers, and masters of our craft.

The Team You’ll Work With

This role is on the investor experience team within Investor Services. We take on projects that transform the way Carta looks and feels for our users. We nurture understanding and empathy for our users. We represent them in building our product and we solve their problems.

We are building a team that thrives on creativity, experimentation, and feedback. We’re moving towards our vision one step at a time, and care about the details on the way there. We pride ourselves on developing deep domain expertise so we can bridge the gap between where we are today and what the future could be. We are thoughtful, hold the bar high for what good looks like, and are our own most stringent critic of the outcomes we produce. We measure success by the feedback we hear from our users and our impact on business goals.

The Problems You’ll Solve

Our fund administration business has grown at an unprecedented rate since we entered the market in mid 2018. To power this growth, we’ve built a world class accounting team, our own general ledger, and a framework we call event-based accounting. We set our sights on building the back-office of the future for Silicon Valley and have been delivering. On top of this, we’re building the best customer experience our clients have had with a fund admin through a combination of service and product.

It's time to build an investment team experience that delivers. In the last two years, we’ve focused on how firms work with fund admins and manage their investors (called Limited Partners). Now, we want to build a standout General Partner and investment team experience. With their jobs in mind, we will tailor the Carta experience to give them the information they need at their fingertips.

Some of the problems you’ll help us solve:

  1. How can we make Carta into the day-to-day source of truth for the investment team?
  2. How can we give the investment team the data they need to make good decisions?
  3. How do we build an experience that answers the questions investors have about ownership?

The Impact You’ll Have

Getting our investor experience right means exponentially increasing our investor business and network flywheel. We want to win market share by being the source of truth for the investment team.

We believe that Carta can fundamentally change how capital is allocated in the world. We have the opportunity to fix the broken parts of the fund admin industry and build more trust and transparency with Limited Partners. We believe that trust will lead to a larger investment in the VC asset class and ultimately more funding for entrepreneurs with ideas that can change the world. It starts with an experience that investors love.

About You

You’re a problem solver who gets into the details. You know how to figure things out and ship good product where others spiral. You’re naturally curious and obsessive about learning. You care about doing the right thing as much as you do winning.

Preferred:

  • You have worked in or have a deep understanding of the VC industry
  • You know how VC firms are structured and the roles and incentives of the people who work there
We are an equal opportunity employer and are committed to providing a positive interview experience for every candidate. As a company, we value fairness, helpfulness, transparency, leadership and build our teams around these values.
