Meet Your Future Neighbors

As the Generative AI Product Manager at Nextdoor, you will lead a team of machine learning engineers to build generative-AI driven solutions across all our products. We are looking for a product manager who believes that AI can supercharge the power of the local community to deliver kinder neighborhoods for users to rely on. AI is one of the fastest growing teams at Nextdoor. Our mission is to accelerate the cultivation of a kinder world with data-driven intelligence. We are transforming our product through personalization, and driving major impact across different parts of our platform including newsfeed, notifications, ads relevance, knowledge graph, connections, search, and trust. In alignment with our strategic goal to enhance neighbor experiences powered by ML/AI, we recently announced the integration of generative AI technologies throughout the platform to promote a more positive and engaging experience for neighbors in the U.S. We are committed to aligning the use of generative AI technology with our core values and mission and have developed a set of principles for the deployment of AI. For more details regarding the principles in which we strive to abide by as we deploy generative AI, visit https://ai.nextdoor.com/generative-ai-principles/

The Impact You’ll Make

In this role, you will work in one of the fastest growing areas of AI to build products used by millions of people on a daily basis. This is a cross-team role where you will help both neighbors and advertisers be more effective at accomplishing their goals on Nextdoor.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing a vision and strategy for generative AI that ultimately drives company-level measurable outcomes. The opportunities of generative AI are endless in a social consumer app, so creating the plan for which opportunities to tackle and when will be the most critical part of the role
  • Creating leverage across the company by collaborating with other PMs and stakeholders to understand their needs and how generative AI can help solve them. Your team alone will likely not be able to do it all, so integrating with other product team’s roadmaps is a must.
  • Communicating and influencing at all levels, including with executive leadership. This role will need to be able to dig into technical details, convey how your solutions will solve real user needs, and uplevel the “why this matters” to coworkers all across the organization.
  • Experiment and learn quickly by iterating on generative AI experiences that align with Nextdoor's values, mission, and purpose, and resonate most with customers
  • Foster a cross-functional team of machine learning experts, engineers, designers, researchers, and data scientists who will lead Nextdoor's efforts to become a thought leader in the AI space
  • Product Management basics such as defining requirements, prioritizing implementation timelines, translating products into business impact

What You’ll Bring To The Team

  • 6+ years product management or related experience working directly with AI products. Consumer product experience with user generated content is a must
  • Strong track record of delivering company-level  impact at the scale of millions of users
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct rapid experimentation and effectively learn from data and research to identify the highest impact opportunities and hustle to make them a reality
  • Comfort with a rapidly evolving technology and competitive landscape and highly ambiguous problem space with a passion for learning
  • Strong communication skills are essential, including the ability to develop external partnerships, pitch ideas to senior leaders, inspire a team, and explain highly technical concepts in language that diverse audiences can understand
  • Deep analytical expertise with the ability to engage directly with a broad spectrum of engineers (Analytics Engineers, Client Engineers, ML Engineers, Infrastructure Engineers) and contribute to technical decision making
  • Comfort working across the product development spectrum: strategy, ideation, product specifications, technical implementation details, development, and QA
  • Ability to experiment and learn quickly, and iterate on the user experience to provide value for our users and for the business
  • Proficient with writing SQL queries and analyzing results in your tool of choice
