Stripe builds the economic infrastructure for the internet. Building trust between banks, businesses & customers is a key ingredient for Stripe to be successful. Unfortunately, fraudsters and bad actors erode that trust.

The Fraud Intelligence team builds backend and machine learning (ML) systems to reduce fraud while retaining a best-in-class user experience. Our work directly impacts Stripe’s bottom line, and we help build a safer financial backbone for the internet.

You will be focused on providing a delightful experience for our merchants and minimizing friction, while ensuring the safety of our users in the financial ecosystem. You’ll develop a nuanced understanding of the needs of Stripe’s diverse user base and ever growing product portfolio.

You will:

  • Help drive a risk-centric approach to innovating Stripe’s products and infrastructure
  • You’ll own the strategy and roadmap to directly reduce Stripe’s fraud losses while minimizing friction for good users
  • Rigorously measure outcomes that drive bottom line impact to Stripe’s business
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, design, data science, and operations
  • Work with Stripe users to educate them about and help prevent potential risks to their business
  • Partner with and influence the roadmaps of multiple other product teams such as Connect, Issuing, Terminal, Payments, Capital, and Radar to design and build our risk abstractions and systems

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • The ability to turn incomplete, conflicting, or ambiguous inputs into solid action plans
  • Experience managing technical software products from kick-off to ship. Preferred but optional: Experience with machine learning
  • A desire to work closely with users, gather feedback, and understand their problems
  • Strong data analysis and are seasoned in experimentation
  • Experience leading products that require coordination of many stakeholders and cross functional teams

You should include these in your application:

  • Your resume and/or LinkedIn profile
