Job Description

Role:

As one of London’s fastest-growing tech companies, and an increasingly global business, we need excellent product people at all levels. We’re currently hiring for a Product Manager in our London HQ or Manchester office to run one of Depop’s cross-functional teams. You’ll report to the Lead product manager in the Fulfilment pillar and you will be expected to help guide your unit while delivering a contribution to its impact and strategic roadmap.

Responsibilities:

Vision, strategy and roadmap:

  • A key driver of defining and executing the payments product vision and strategy, working with the team, other product managers and stakeholders in finance and operations
  • Defining and monitoring OKRs of the product and features in the roadmap in collaboration with Product Analysts, your team and the Lead product manager
  • Building a roadmap based on achieving customer outcomes and prioritising in a way that balances our longer term strategy with high confidence, high value items that can be delivered in the short term

Deciding what to build:

  • Prioritising features to deliver the highest impact against quarterly objectives based on your team’s resources
  • Combine user research, rigorous data exploration and technical guidance to make informed decisions about the vital few worth building, what to not pursue and when to adjust focus where necessary. You iterate on hypotheses and solutions as you learn. 
  • Scope and effectively prioritise new features to ensure the right balance between effort and impact.

Owning how we build it:

  • Designing features that are simple, intuitive and beautiful in collaboration with our Designers and user researchers. Champion product excellence and support others in their craft.
  • Working with the development team to ensure features are built to the specifications.
  • Recognising obstacles to the team, and making sure they are escalated or resolved before they impact delivery. Keeping effort vs value at the forefront of your decision making.
     

Keeping everyone aligned and informed:

  • Aligning with the Lead Product Manager and the functional leadership on the priorities and strategic goals of the wider product area.
  • Motivating the team and giving them the context they need to reach their potential.
  • Identifying and leveraging the expertise of key functional stakeholders (e.g. Engineering, Design, Product Marketing) and other product squads to help shape and execute on the vision for your area and fully understanding the opportunities, potential solutions, and constraints.

Qualifications

Must-haves:

  • A strong technical understanding. You must be able to challenge engineers on their assumptions and have productive conversations on approaches to complex infrastructure projects
  • Great commercial awareness. Payments is an important revenue driver for the business and also represents a large portion of our cost base. You must be able to balance commercial and user requirements effectively when building your plans
  • Excellent communication skills. Payments is at the core of our operations. You will need to build relationships with senior stakeholders across operations, finance and product -  and work collaboratively with them to build plans that suit all parties.

  • Previous experience as a Product Manager/Product Owner in an agile environment.
     

Things that would be useful, but are not essential:

  • Previous experience working in payments (working with Stripe would be a bonus)
  • Previous experience working in a marketplace business
  • Experience working on 3rd party integrations
  • Experience in a mobile-first environment
  • Interest in fashion
