Overview of the Role

Trainline’s Platform One supports all our customer propositions across B2C, Branded Business Travel, B2B Distribution, TOC Partner Solutions and Supply Integrations, on multiple channels including web, app, external APIs, and agent tooling for both in-house customer support and external B2B customers. This role is responsible for the developer experiences and supports the end to end customer experiences across our portfolio of web and app products within Platform One.  
Developer experience: The ability to experiment and iterate at great pace and scale requires a strong core team focusing on enablers and innovative technology improving the experience for developers working on our code base for web and app. Reducing dependencies on legacy tech, becoming leaner through micro-frontend architecture, building out Trainline’s design system (Depot.), and supporting developers with making the right choices are all responsibilities that sit with this role. 
Customer experience: Stability, quality and performance are three cornerstones of the success of any customer proposition and the Platform One Digital Experiences team are the custodians. Whilst other teams will be experimenting on the product to drive growth and engagement goals, it is the responsibility of Platform One to ensure a consistent end to end, friction-free customer experience, monitoring and upholding high quality, performance and stability goals. This role supports the Product Principal in delivering to these goals on web and app. 
This role has day to day ownership for one web and one mixed iOS and Android app squad. Key partnerships in this role are with Engineering Managers for web and for app, Design, and engineering Team Leads in the squads. The Product Manager will work with teams to set OKRs and prioritise delivery outcomes for this area to achieve overall company goals. As custodian of digital experiences, it is also imperative to have strong relationships with other Product counterparts in the verticals - helping them to achieve their goals without compromising quality, performance or stability. 
Responsibilities
- Know the competitive landscape, global industry trends and company strategy, owning the short, medium and long-term roadmap for two squads  
- Taking problems and generating ideas for improvements, resolving ambiguity and comprehensively exploring options whilst championing an outcome driven approach 
- Drive squads’ prioritisation, making trade-offs and striking a good balance of delivering new features, platform improvements, reporting and monitoring capabilities  
- Harness data tools to generate insights, communicate hypotheses to wider audience and share learnings from both successes and failures 
- Lead/participate in Agile ceremonies, with responsibility for a high standard of meaningful, outcome driven expectations
- Be the customer advocate; evaluate and understand customer insights and align to the work your team are delivering to ensure you are delivering exceptional value to our end users
- Concise and effective communication with the squads, providing context on strategy whilst building knowledge of our domain and credibility by striving to understand technology decisions and implications
- Develop relationships to regularly engage, communicate, and influence peers and business partners through clear articulation of the “why”, through both written and confident verbal presentation 
- React to operational issues, either customer or technical, and prioritise remedial action as appropriate to avoid poor customer experience or internal inefficiency 
- Be an effective member of the squad leadership with Engineering and Design or Business partners whilst enabling the squads to be in a happy and functional place 
Required Knowledge & Experience

- 3 years of experience in a Product Management role in a tech business 
- Worked in a fast-paced environment where you’ve had to think on your feet and bring people together to problem solve 
- Experience working closely with engineering teams and having to get a good understanding of the code to best understand how to drive improvements to both the business and the customer
- Evidence of customer centric thinking through insights, data and experimentation 
- Knowledge and experience of working within an Agile environment within a product position; writing user stories, setting sprint goals and collaborating with teams on acceptance criteria  
- Analytical thinking and decision making, able to weigh up conflicting priorities and make the right decision using a balance of qual and quant data inputs 
- Experience in travel industry or a marketplace could be beneficial
