The Freemium R&D team oversees the entire user journey on Spotify and ensures we engage with people in innovative ways, every step of the way. Our team grows Spotify’s audience by finding future listeners around the world and delivering the right value to them, at the right time. We have ambitious plans in Freemium to build the next generation multi dimensional Commerce platform, and we are looking for a Product Manager to join the team. The Product Manager will work with a multi-disciplinary squad with 4 engineers, a data scientist and an EM to solve problems in the payments fraud space. Fraudsters are highly motivated, resourceful and skilled individuals which are always looking for new ways to take advantage, be it through flaws in the process and abusing Spotify trials, or re-selling Premium accounts bought with stolen credit cards.
This squad in the Platform Foundations Product Area plays a pivotal role, working together with payments fraud, in identifying recurring and new fraud patterns in the payments space and coming up with hypotheses to tackle those.
What you'll do
- Set the vision for one or more commerce domains based on an understanding of business and user needs.
- Work closely with stakeholders and a skilled team of cross-functional peers to define a roadmap that balances developing the fraud platform, meeting current business needs, managing technical debt, and unlocking new opportunities.
- Set the north star direction and strategy for the payments fraud domain.
- Own the long term roadmap for your domain.
- Contribute a genuine passion and enthusiasm for your products and mission, and for solving your user’s needs.
- Demonstrate and help instil platform thinking and user-focused development practices across our development teams.
- Partner with development teams to deliver critical platform capabilities with speed and quality.
- Use data to inform critical business decisions.
- Establish a strong network across Spotify to come up with a well-rounded fraud strategy.
Who you are
- You're an experienced Product Manager with data driven product development, strong product craft, with previous experience building and setting vision for products, ideally within the commerce, payments or fraud spaces.
- You have 3+ years of experience working with product development.
- You have a genuine curiosity about building user centric products and solving complex problems.
- Highly collaborative and you thrive working in cross-functional teams.
- Experienced in building platforms used by large ecosystems of users and businesses.
- You have excellent leadership and relationship building skills.
- You are an excellent communicator and storyteller, communicating concepts and ideas to stakeholders at all levels, in different shapes depending on the context.
- You are passionate about building exceptional experiences and understand what a phenomenal platform that meets these needs looks like.
- Experience in crafting clear product requirements based on research, data and insights.
- You know how to inspire, motivate and support a team to get things done.
- You have a proven track record of developing and managing world-class software products.
- You know how to influence decision-making at all levels within an organisation, and in a variety of contexts.
- Experience leading and working with agile development teams.
- You can influence and partner effectively across all levels of an organisation, and regularly use these skills to improve the work going on around you.
- You are data-obsessed.
