Grammarly is excited to offer a remote-first hybrid working model. Team members can work primarily remotely in the United States, Canada, Ukraine, Germany, Poland, and Portugal. Conditions permitting, teams will meet in person a few weeks every quarter at one of Grammarly's hubs, currently in San Francisco, Kyiv, New York, Vancouver, and Berlin, or in a shared workspace in Krakow.

Grammarly team members who will be collaborating in Berlin must be based in Germany, Poland, or Portugal.

The opportunity

Grammarly empowers people to thrive and connect, whenever and wherever they communicate. Every day, 30 million people and 30,000 teams around the world use our AI-powered writing assistant. All of this begins with our team collaborating in a values-driven and learning-oriented environment.

To achieve our ambitious goals, we’re looking for a Product Designer to join Grammarly’s design team and focus on mobile experiences. On mobile, Grammarly has an opportunity to reach new users and create a product that helps our users communicate anywhere they are. This role is ideal for someone who thrives when creating user experiences that address mobile-specific challenges and opportunities that help complement our web and desktop experiences.

This role will report to the Product Design Manager of the Client Applications domain, which includes the Mobile team. Teams within the Client Applications domain develop the core user experiences for Grammarly across all mobile and desktop applications, including Grammarly browser extensions, Grammarly for Windows and Mac, Grammarly for iPhone and iPad, the Grammarly Keyboard, and Grammarly for Samsung Keyboard.

Your impact

As a Product Designer on the Mobile team, you will have the opportunity to work in a newer product space at Grammarly. You’ll play a crucial role in deeply understanding what users need from Grammarly on mobile devices and collaborate with your team to imagine the future of our product offerings, develop prototypes, and create beautiful and highly accessible experiences.

In this role, you will:

  • Design exceptional mobile experiences, participating in the entire product development lifecycle—from definition to implementation to optimization to product launches.
  • Inform design decisions with user research, market trends, and business goals.
  • Refine design work to reach a high bar for quality—balancing utility, delight, and creating learning opportunities for users.
  • Own mobile surfaces while collaborating with other teams to ensure that mobile user experiences are integral to a larger, cohesive product ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with a wide range of cross-functional teammates to learn about users; define product strategy; design experiences for users with various abilities, contexts, and needs; and integrate new interaction patterns into the Grammarly Design System.

We’re looking for someone who

  • Embodies our EAGER values—is ethical, adaptable, gritty, empathetic, and remarkable.
  • Is able to collaborate in person 2–4 weeks per quarter, traveling if necessary to the hub where the team is based.
  • Has a minimum of 6 years of product design experience and a relevant work history that shows evidence of a principled approach to design, user advocacy, and achieving business impact.
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively share ideas and solicits feedback to improve our collective work.
  • Has a mindset for how people use mobile devices and can connect business goals, available technologies, and user needs to develop best-in-class user experiences.
  • Is familiar with Google’s Material Design Guidelines and Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines and can appropriately apply principles in their work.
  • Works proactively to set goals, can manage multiple priorities, and is accountable for driving projects from beginning to end.
  • Is proficient in design and prototyping tools.
  • Is excited about contributing to creating an inclusive environment and inspiring teammates to explore and go beyond the status quo.
