Our Oscar Design Organization is a multidisciplinary team of supportive and collaborative designers and researchers that examines the entire member journey and considers the design of systems to be as important as the artifacts we make. Our practice is human-centered, our work is rooted in empathy and research, and we lead by example and with our values. 

As a Product Designer on the Member Experience team, you will help us to explore, design, and shape the vision for tools that empower our members to manage their care with Oscar. You will envision how our members find care as well as focus on improving their web and mobile app experiences.

You will generate and explore ideas, conduct discovery or usability research, sketch out, design, test and ship high-quality features, partner with your peers to shape roadmaps, and define goals for high-impact work. Most importantly, you will have the ability to challenge and propose what healthcare can look like in the future. You'll carry the voice of our members throughout our work, inspiring your team with their stories and championing the ideal experience.

You will report into a Group Product Design Manager.


  • Define the experiences within the end-to-end journey of searching for care, from the moment a member signs up for Oscar, to their appointment with an Oscar provider 
  • Support projects spanning across teams on the digital member experience, on both responsive web and native mobile 
  • Become an expert on various care journey related personas and champion the needs of the user to the larger org 
  • Own the design process and partner closely with cross-functional peers like product managers, tech leads, engineers, data scientists and business stakeholders to drive clarity around strategy and alignment on solutions  
  • Collaborate with other product designers across the organization with feedback during critiques and thoughtful contributions to the design team at large  
  • Structure and conduct outcomes-driven user research and usability testing
  • Design visually compelling experiences for all members and contribute to the Oscar design language system (anatomy)


  • 3+ years of experience designing digital products
  • Concrete examples of designing and shipping web and mobile interfaces 
  • Ability to evaluate and balance user and business needs; think through complex systems 
  • Experience collaborating with product managers and engineers on product specs, requirements, roadmapping, QA, and facilitating progress at all stages of a project
  • Iterative design methodologies and the drive to gather feedback early and often
  • Experience driving user research, experimentation, and referencing and interpreting analytics to validate design decisions
  • Highly developed time-management and organizational skills

Bonus points

  • Experience with the healthcare space 
  • Illustration, animation or other forms of storytelling
  • Interest in design ethics and accessibility
