Design at LaunchNotes

Design is a critical organization at LaunchNotes. We solve problems for our users by discovering what our users need and why. We believe in problem-solving by cultivating curiosity, experimenting early and often, collaborating across teams, applying empathy, and researching. We love feedback and we’re always listening, learning, and improving. At LaunchNotes, design isn’t an afterthought or a decoration - it’s a core value.

We’re hiring a Product Designer to join our team! You’ll help us realize a future of continuous communication and work on things like how our users create and publish release notes, manage roadmaps, gather and organize feedback, surface internal product updates, and manage communication at scale. You’ll be our second product designer, which means you’ll have a meaningful, outsized impact on our design culture, team processes, and the LaunchNotes design system.

Come work with us— we’re thrilled to expand the LaunchNotes design org.

What you’ll do

  • Create simple, intuitive, delightful user experiences and interfaces while balancing vision, craft, speed, and business needs
  • Question and understand complex UI/UX product design problems from the ground up, and design, plan, and implement the detailed workflows, interfaces, and interactions required
  • Concept and create design deliverables such as sketches, wireframes, high fidelity mockups, design system components, prototypes, etc.
  • Collaborate with our multi-disciplinary design team to continuously improve our design processes, principles, systems, tooling; amplify the LaunchNotes design culture; and create a consistent, delightful experience across every customer touchpoint
  • Share, solicit, and incorporate feedback from other designers
  • Partner with our product team to represent the voice of the user, conduct user research, and participate in strategic product decisions
  • Partner with the engineering team to see projects through from concept to completion, discuss scope and tradeoffs, perform functional and visual QA, and provide detailed feedback

Requirements

What we’re looking for

  • 2+ years of experience with product design
  • An outstanding portfolio that shows your design process, how you work with others, and a solid foundation in interaction and visual design
  • Hands-on attitude; willingness and ability to see your work through to production
  • Someone who can gracefully accept feedback and discuss the pros, cons, and options of their work
  • An active willingness to own mistakes and learn from them
  • A good listener who approaches design collaboratively, communicates proactively, and can explain the rationale of complex design decisions to many different stakeholders
  • While many team members are based in Colorado, LaunchNotes is a remote-first team

Tools our design team use: Figma (primary tool for design and prototyping), Adobe suite (occasionally Illustrator and Photoshop), Linear, Google Suite, Notion, Slack, Tandem, and more.

Nice to haves

  • UX writing experience
  • Experience working with or building design systems
  • UX research experience - you have enough experience to know when to skip and when to invest in UX testing
  • Experience working with distant teammates and highly distributed teams
  • You bring unique strengths and perspectives to the team. We're looking to build a diverse team because we know teams with different viewpoints and experiences are stronger

Skills and experience are important but if this position sounds like a good fit for you, please apply!

Benefits

  • Fully subsidized healthcare (Medical, Dental & Vision)
  • $5k stipend to build your perfect workspace
  • $5k annual professional development stipend for technical training, career coaching, or anything else that will help you learn and continue to level up
  • 401k retirement plan
  • Life insurance (Basic, Voluntary & AD&D)
  • Unlimited paid time off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)
  • Family leave (Parental)
  • Disability insurance (Short Term & Long Term)
  • Flexible, remote-first work policy
  • Equity ownership in LaunchNotes
