Grammarly is excited to offer a remote-first hybrid working model. Team members can work primarily remotely in the United States, Canada, Ukraine, Germany, Poland, and Portugal. Conditions permitting, teams will meet in person a few weeks every quarter at one of Grammarly's hubs, currently in San Francisco, Kyiv, New York, Vancouver, and Berlin, or in a shared workspace in Krakow.

Grammarly team members in this role must be based in the United States or Canada.

The opportunity

Grammarly empowers people to thrive and connect, whenever and wherever they communicate. Every day, 30 million people and 30,000 teams around the world use our AI-powered writing assistant. All of this begins with our team collaborating in a values-driven and learning-oriented environment.

To achieve our ambitious goals, we’re looking for a Product Designer to join Grammarly’s Design team and focus on core experiences. This role will report to the Product Design Manager of the Client Applications domain. Teams within the Client Applications domain develop the core user experiences for Grammarly across all mobile and desktop applications, including Grammarly browser extensions, Grammarly for Windows and Mac, Grammarly for iPhone and iPad, the Grammarly Keyboard, and Grammarly for Samsung Keyboard.

Core experiences include ideal interactions that build and maintain user trust, ideal interactions that learn from and enhance how people use Grammarly across multiple desktop and mobile applications, and approaches to when and how Grammarly should proactively help vs. recede.

Your impact

As a Product Designer focused on core experiences, you will have the opportunity to own end-to-end experiences. You will create thoughtful seams across applications with cohesion, consistency, and quality—and thereby further Grammarly’s vision of ubiquity and trustworthiness. This role is ideal for someone who thrives when thinking systematically and working with a holistic approach, has exceptional facilitation skills to drive design decisions cross-functionally, and can create beautiful and highly accessible user experiences at scale.

In this role, you will:

  • Design exceptional mobile experiences, participating in the entire product development lifecycle—from definition to implementation to optimization to product launches.
  • Inform design decisions with user research, market trends, and business goals, balancing a variety of use cases, challenges, and opportunities across applications.
  • Refine design work to reach a high bar for quality—balancing utility, delight, and creating learning opportunities for users.
  • Collaborate with design system designers to use and evolve Grammarly’s design system and develop and integrate new interaction patterns, behaviors, and frameworks into the design system that others can use.
  • Collaborate with a wide range of cross-functional teammates to learn about users, define product strategy, and design experiences for users with various abilities, contexts, and needs.

We’re looking for someone who

  • Embodies our EAGER values—is ethical, adaptable, gritty, empathetic, and remarkable.
  • Is able to collaborate in person 2–4 weeks per quarter, traveling if necessary to the hub where the team is based.
  • Has a minimum of 8 years of product design experience and a relevant work history that shows evidence of a principled approach to design, user advocacy, and achieving business impact.
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively share ideas and solicits feedback to improve our collective work.
  • Has a mindset for seeking root causes, approaching problems, evaluating trade-offs, and designing solutions systematically across applications to develop best-in-class user experiences.
  • Works proactively to set goals, can manage multiple priorities, and is accountable for driving projects from beginning to end.
  • Is proficient in design and prototyping tools.
  • Is excited about contributing to creating an inclusive environment and inspiring teammates to explore and go beyond the status quo.
