Our Mission

We imagined a world where everyone could manage their finances simply. An app that could get people saving and investing with the help of automation. So we've built it. Now, Plum lets customers across 10 different countries handle all their money needs in a single place. In 5 years, we’ve grown from 2 co-founders sharing a rusty desk in Soho, to a brilliant, hard-working team of 170+, with offices in London (HQ), Athens and Nicosia.

As you can see, we’ve been busy - but there’s still plenty of exciting projects in the pipeline and we could use a little help. That’s where you come in!

The Role

As Product Design Director, you’ll build our entire product design function and help our current team of 5 designers grow their ability to inspire, get to impactful experience faster, impress customers and contribute to building the team. Ultimately growing their impact on Plum customers.

What You Will Do in more details

• Take responsibility forPlum’s end-to-end experience. Co-owning the quality of the product in the hand of customers.
• Elevate the overall quality of the Plum product, rallying the entire company around improving it for our customers.
• Support product leaders to inspire the entire company around the problem space and our vision.
• Nurture a culture of impact, speed and quality in design, building on our Design Competency Map.
• Drive your team to identify successful solutions faster.
• Make sure Plum’s experience is worth talking about for customers.
• Run design reviews with the product leaders.
• Lead by example. Be hands-on, when needed.
• Grow the skillset of your team members to scale the org.
• Hire new, exciting design talent as we grow.
• Solve eventual systemic problems which make it harder to be a product designer at Plum.
• Ensure all Plum products come together seamlessly.

Your past experience

• You’ve led the design function or part of it at a start-up or scale up for 2 years minimum. Owning at least 5 domains.
• Inspiring a team of at least 5 designers.
• You have demonstrated being able to step change how fast designers get to impact with long lasting solutions.
• You have designed products that have impressed customers and got them talking.
• You have driven the development of a design system on multiple platforms before.
• You have some front-end technical skills and earned respect from an engineering org.
• You have demonstrated the ability to hire and onboard great principal and group level designers.
• You have demonstrated the ability to grow senior designers into inspiring leads.
• You have demonstrated being the go-to source of instrumental feedback for a design team.
• You know how and when to utilize specialized copy writing, research, video, 3d artists and other specialized expertise, keeping teams as lean as possible while increasing the skillet of your org.
