About this Role:
We are looking for a seasoned Principal Product Manager to join our Product Management team to craft world-class experiences for our clients (restaurants) and consumers (food enthusiasts) and help us achieve our mission to level the playing field for independent restaurants.
Our Product team plays an integral part in understanding our customers biggest pain points, and finding ways to creatively solve their problems whilst ensuring commercial viability. We collaborate closely with each other, with engineers and designers as well as collaborators outside of Product Engineering to create industry-leading products that deliver value for the people who use them, and for the Flipdish business.
In this role, you’ll be wearing multiple hats, you’ll be in the detail leading one of our Product Squads which is playing a critical role in modernising our restaurant management platform in order to enable our internal product teams and accelerate their ability to provide our clients with a seamless experience when using any of our Flipdish product and services.
As a Principal, you’ll also be passionate about our product processes and practices. Alongside squad leadership of our restaurant platform product, you’ll support the VP of Product and Director of Product to embed our Product Operating Model as well as coaching and mentoring your product management peers on best practice. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in a product management role and have at least 8+ years of experience.
Responsibilities
Leading a Product Squad:
- Leading our Product Platform Squad alongside our Tech Lead and Product Designer.
- Setting the vision and strategy for this squad and developing solutions that balance feasibility, desirability & viability.
- Collaborate closely with other product squads across Flipdish
- Developing our public API strategy
- This teams mission is still forming, you’ll be responsible for shaping this, therefore being comfortable with ambiguity is essential.
Building a Strong Product Culture:
- Be an advocate for product thinking, cultivating an environment that helps our product people to thrive within Flipdish and drive value for our users, always advocating for outcomes over outputs
- Build on our Product Operating Model and ensure alignment with our Design & Engineering operating models
- Provide guidance, and mentorship to our Product Management team and develop our community of practice in order to ensure continuous improvement
- Collaborate closely with Engineering Managers, Principal Engineers & Design Leadership to ensure alignment across the disciplines
- Bring a creative approach to discovering and solving users' problems. You’ll need to be comfortable striking the balance between the need for discovery, and pragmatic decision making based on your experience.
- Excellent commercial awareness
- Operate comfortably with individuals at every level of seniority, from C-suite executives to junior engineers.
- Be an advocate for our Product Management community externally, whether that be blogs, conferences, events and anything in between. We want to build our presence within our local product management communities.
Experience:
- 8+ years of product management experience, ideally in a start up —> scale up environment
- You have a track record of building consensus and delivering results with cross-functional teams
- You have experience working through problems with high ambiguity and without a definitive answer
- You have excellent organization and prioritization skills
- You have a great ability to absorb and apply data to your decision making, you’ll know when enough data is enough for you to make a decision
- You’re solution-oriented, and able to help the team push through obstacles and blockers to deliver value for our users
- You have experience shaping product direction and execution based on customer needs
- Proven experience as a product leader, comfortable operating at all levels of seniority
- You have a hands-on approach, with a passion for diving into the details and working alongside teams to up-skill and coach.
- Deep understanding of product thinking
- You get a kick out of seeing other develop, you love helping others develop their product craft
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams across the business
- Advocate for service design and service thinking
- Collaborative, pragmatic, and outcome-focused approach to work
- If you are more of a technical PM, this would be an advantage in this role.
Willingness to travel, specifically to Dublin (if based out of Manchester) or Manchester (if based out of Dublin) for relationship building with the team
Ability to travel to and from your local hub office (either Manchester or Dublin c. 2 days a week)
