This is a remote position open to candidates located on the West Coast, with a preference for those based in the Seattle, WA area. We also offer an optional office space in Seattle for anyone who prefers an on-site or hybrid work environment.

Docker is building the next evolution of its developer platform: Docker Cloud, a unified, multi-cloud service that seamlessly connects local development with global-scale deployment. At the center of this transformation is AI Cloud—a strategic product initiative designed to make AI development portable, secure, and scalable across local and cloud environments.

As Principal Product Manager for AI Cloud, you will define the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Docker’s AI Cloud platform, bridging the innovations in Container-as-a-Service (CaaS), AI Gateway, and the Model Context Protocol (MCP) ecosystem. You will lead efforts to bring AI-native workloads, containers, and developer tools into a cohesive, cloud-delivered experience that powers next-generation agentic applications.

This role is highly cross-functional and foundational to Docker’s future. You’ll collaborate with executive leadership, engineering, design, and go-to-market teams to turn the Cloud Strategy into reality—building the connective tissue between Docker Desktop, Hub, and Cloud to serve millions of developers and thousands of enterprises.

Key Responsibilities

Product Vision & Strategy

  • Define the long-term vision for Docker AI Cloud as the unified layer that connects local and cloud development for AI workloads.

  • Translate Docker’s Cloud Strategy into concrete product investments across CaaS, AI Gateway, and MCP Platform, ensuring seamless interoperability between them.

  • Champion the developer experience—making AI infrastructure accessible, secure, and developer-first, whether running locally or in the cloud.

  • Partner with executive leadership to identify high-impact growth opportunities in AI infrastructure, governance, and hybrid runtime experiences.

AI Cloud Platform Development

  • Define product requirements for Containers-as-a-Service (CaaS) capabilities that support AI and agentic workloads, including sandboxed execution, observability, and fast startup times.

  • Work closely with engineering to integrate AI Gateway capabilities—model routing, tool orchestration, and policy enforcement—into the Docker Cloud control plane.

  • Extend the MCP Platform into the cloud by enabling secure hosting, management, and governance of MCP servers and catalogs for enterprise use.

  • Drive BYOC (Bring Your Own Cloud) and enterprise deployment scenarios, ensuring Docker AI Cloud can operate flexibly across customer environments.

Ecosystem & Integration

  • Partner with the MCP and Agents teams to make AI workflows frictionless—from local prototyping to cloud-scale execution—via consistent APIs and identity integration.

  • Define the product experience that connects Docker Hub, AI Gateway, and MCP Catalog, allowing developers to discover and run AI tools instantly.

  • Collaborate with data and infrastructure product teams to ensure integration with Docker’s observability, security, and governance frameworks.

Security, Governance & Enterprise Readiness

  • Establish product direction for secure AI workloads, including secret management, sandbox isolation, and runtime policy enforcement.

  • Define enterprise governance capabilities: private catalogs, verified MCP servers, compliance telemetry, and audit reporting.

  • Partner with engineering and security leadership to implement real-time observability, usage analytics, and cost attribution systems.

Leadership & Influence

  • Act as the cross-functional leader uniting AI, Cloud, and Platform teams around a coherent developer and enterprise experience.

  • Represent Docker externally as a thought leader in AI infrastructure, developer platforms, and containerized AI workloads.

  • Mentor product managers and collaborate across engineering and design to scale product excellence across AI and Cloud domains.

Qualifications

Required

  • 10+ years of product management experience, including 3+ years leading platform or infrastructure products at scale.

  • Proven success driving developer platform or cloud service products from concept to launch.

  • Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, and AI/ML developer ecosystems.

  • Experience defining products that span control planes, data planes, and hybrid local/cloud environments.

  • Strong technical acumen with ability to partner closely with engineering on distributed systems, security, and API design.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to distill complex technical concepts into clear business narratives.

Preferred

  • Background in developer productivity, AI infrastructure, or multi-cloud orchestration platforms.

  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker Engine, or comparable container ecosystems.

  • Familiarity with MCP, inference services, and AI agent frameworks.

  • Understanding of enterprise governance and compliance
