About the Job 

We’re looking for a Principal Designer to lead design of our Production world, a core component of our customer experience value.

As a Principal Designer you will lead on service design, product development and iteration. You’ll be responsible for the development and delivery of multiple products cross cutting innovative products that make up Cazoo Production system. 

What you’ll do

• You will work with multiple Product teams, Principal engineers to develop concepts and future experiences.

• You’ll lead design for a complex product area. You’ll unlock the complexity by creating a shared understanding of how the production systems work and how they provide value to customers. You will be able to investigate and articulate opportunities in which new value can be created, and how we can respond to opportunities in the market.
• You will create a systematic understanding of the production process, people and systems. Leading by example, you will give direction on utilising the right method and the right tools at the right time. You will apply all this expertise of user needs and their evolution into strategic thinking of how to provide the best services for the end users.
• You will foster an environment of quality that is directly correlated to business objectives. You can create a UX measurement framework that benchmarks both qualitative and quantitative information of the service and its suite of products.
• You’ll raise the bar of Design at Cazoo. Human centred design and its principles will be at the core of everything you do, mediating between people, teams and stakeholders at all levels and having them actively involved in your process.
• You get things done, doing is at the heart of everything at the core of how you learn. You prototype in the real world, there is only so much time that you spend talking and you are biassed toward action. Your ideas are triangulated and you are aware of multiple opportunities – opportunities to iterate and to adapt, zooming in and out of the holistic experience. Your focussed on changing reality.
• You’ll regularly work with the head of design, product and engineering leadership. This is to help make sure long-term strategy, business goals and experience quality are all in alignment and that there are healthy opportunities for visibility and feedback.

What you’ll need

• 5+ years of product design experience
• Experience with data informed design process, paired with creativity and original thinking
• Experience in creating complex, multi-input interactions, experiences and end-to-end flows, prototypes, with high-fidelity visuals
• Advanced prototyping skills, basic coding knowledge preferred
• Experience in validating design solutions using qualitative and quantitative methods
• Effective written and verbal communication
• Cross-functional collaboration mindset

Our London home is located a stone’s throw from Euston Station and close to Kings Cross, with tube stations on the Northern, Victoria, Piccadilly, Hammersmith & City and Circle lines all a short walk away.

Our selection process will typically involve a chat on the phone, a portfolio review and a few hours of interviews where you’ll have a chance to meet the team. Our interview process is built around understanding your experience and focus as a designer, not making you sweat or catching you out.
