Responsibilities Include
- Fully own the process of building a new IP, which includes working with Art and Design leadership to develop the settings, characters, aspirational player fantasies, themes, and multi-season story arcs within that world
- Own all writing for the project at a shippable quality including identifying editorial needs across various contexts, including: in-game dialogue, prose narration, cinematics, locations, characters, skills attributes, equipment descriptions, etc.
- Leverage a deep understanding of both narrative and game design needs to weave the IP, world, and story into a cohesive whole together
- Collaborate with game design to plan narrative systems for the project’s in-game experiences that motivate the player and deliver on character, enemy, and teamplay fantasiesIntegrate narrative into the project’s meta-game experiences to deeply reward player attention, time, and effort
- Promote an inclusive and diverse culture within our team, and let this ethos guide the stories we tell and the worlds we create
- Own communication around the IP, which includes developing and refining key artifacts that help communicate our vision to teammates, stakeholders, and partners
- Participate actively in team playtesting and provide feedback
The Ideal Candidate
- Has significant experience in:
- Game narrative direction, across multiple IPs and/or projects
- Managing and guiding writers and other creative team members
-Developing partnerships with internal departments and external agencies
- Working with localization to provide narrative for different cultures and languages
-Working directly in game tools to deliver text
- Possesses a deep understanding narrative design theory and best practices, especially as it relates to IP world building
- Communicates with authenticity, intention, and curiosityThrives as a member of a cross functional multidisciplinary team
- Excels in online collaboration with a remote team
- Plays broadly across multiple games of varied genres
- Gets excited by learning new skills, dashing to pitch in, even if this means flexing beyond this role’s core responsibilities if it can help us win
