We are looking for a senior motion wizard and maker to lead, inspire and oversee a small team of motion and interaction designers within marketing’s creative department. You will collaborate with other leads to concept and create compelling brand and marketing campaigns in addition to being responsible for defining and evolving our motion design system in projects stretching from dotcom to social media.

In this marketing role, you will have the opportunity to:

Manage, inspire and oversee a small team of motion and 3D designers in the development, creation of motion branding and graphics and execution of all related tactics
Join a team of passionate creatives to conceive and implement concepts, guidelines and campaigns that live across multiple channels to further grow Wealthsimple’s client-base
Collaborate with the other marketing creative leads to create compelling brand and marketing campaigns that incorporate 3D, animation, brand design, UI/UX design and product design that fit into Wealthsimple’s growing brand ecosystem
In addition to managing and leading your team, be hands-on and make rapid prototypes and storyboards and final execution containing 3D and motion concepts that effectively communicate your ultimate vision to get buy-in from stakeholders
Help establish a clear and compelling vision that energizes and focuses the internal team and inspire creative partners through clear and detailed communication
Identify, engage and manage potential relationships with external creative agencies, freelance designers, animators (2D and 3D)
Innovate and explore the edges of technology and creativity
Work with the Executive Creative Director and other creative leads to identify ways to strengthen Wealthsimple’s brand image

We’re looking for someone who:

Has a design portfolio that shows strong conceptual thinking and high proficiency in the formal elements of design, including typography, layout, balance, hierarchy, proportion, color, emphasis and unity applied across a range of touchpoints, including social, motion graphics, digital and print
Excellent understanding of digital and interactive design and a finger on the pulse of what’s new and innovative in digital and motion design
Believes in building scalable design systems that reinforce brand consistency
Brings energy, initiative, a good sense of prioritization and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. You are able to see the possibilities beyond the scope of the assignment
Has the ability to immerse themselves in a brand and understand the nuances of how to manifest, communicate, and engage with the audience
Ability to engage with others (particularly junior team members) to cultivate an environment of learning and constructive dialogue about our work, engendering trust and respect
Has fluency with design software like Figma and After Effects. Experience in a 3D rendering software (like Cinema4D or Maya) is a plus
Has a BFA or MFA in design (nice to have!)
