As a Lead Product Designer at Provi, you will be part of a team of product managers, engineers, and designers all working to build the simplest way to buy and sell alcohol in the beverage industry.
Our Product design team follows the “Squad” model. As a Lead designer on a squad, you will work closely with your Product Manager and Engineering Lead to improve and expand on your portfolio area of the product. We are looking for a “full-stack” designer who has experience working on all parts of the design process. In addition to working within your vertical, you will contribute to our design system “Fizz” and collaborate with the entire design team to elevate product design at Provi.
What you’ll be doing:
- Research: Both qualitative and quantitative, to understand users and their pain points.
- Uncover opportunities for your team’s product to evolve.
- Ideate: Work closely with Design, Product, and Engineering to ideate on product ideas. Collaborate across disciplines to understand technical limitations and business goals.
- Design: Take your wireframes to high fidelity to designs, work with the team to define acceptance criteria
- Review: work with engineering and participate in Design QA, push the product to be pixel perfect and functional
- Mentorship: As a lead, you will have one to several designers in the same portfolio area. Modeling great design process and collaboration and mentoring more junior designers is also part of the role.
- Be a self starter, there are no micromanagers here, take ownership and pride in your work
- Be adaptable and flexible. This is a fast-paced startup; the only constant is change.
- Be both a teacher and student to your peers in the product team. Help the product team as a whole continue to improve. Help facilitate and maintain our team dynamic: open, encouraging, productive. Lead with empathy.
- Above all strive to make the Provi team, business and product great.
What we are looking for:
- 5+ years of experience in product design taking a feature from discovery to execution.
- Portfolio showing strong understanding of visual design and UX patterns.
- A strong design process and ability to adapt with team and product needs
- Ability to prioritize their work and set expectations with stakeholders
- Experience in mentoring other designers
- A team-player- you’re excited to pair with other designers, PMs, and Engineers and collaborate early and often.
- Amazing written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfort with ambiguity and the grit to turn uncertainty into action
- A portfolio of your previous work is required to apply for this role
Experience in the following areas is a plus:
- Mobile/responsive design.
- Working within and contributing to a design system.
- Experience in one of the open portfolio areas: Payments, Search, Ads or merchandising
