Canva’s Commitment and Mission

At Canva, we celebrate diversity. We deeply believe that bringing together diversity of thoughts, perspectives and expression is key to building the best product, team and company. We look for many different skills and abilities, as well as how you can enhance Canva and our culture. So, even if you don’t think you quite meet all of the skills listed or tick all the boxes, we’d still love to hear from you!

Our mission at Canva is to empower the world to design and since launching in 2013, we have grown exponentially, amassing over 86 million monthly active users across 190 different countries and a team of over 3,000 people… and the best bit is that we’ve only achieved 1% of what we know we’re capable of.

Join us and design your future.

About the Canva Creators Group

Since Canva’s founding, our template library has been a critical and fundamental driver of our success. Fundamental to making design accessible to the world is giving people everywhere a springboard with which to create designs from. Templates are that springboard.

Templates provide inspiration to users, help them visualise what's possible and provide an approachable starting point for our users to get creative. In fact, templates are the way the majority of our users create designs so the templates teams are helping millions of people each week.

Historically, Canva’s templates have been designed by a talented team of internal graphic designers. But last year we launched Canva Creators, a platform that allows anyone to publish their templates and earn money every time they’re used. We believe Canva Creators has the potential to take Canva to the next level of scale, and we want you to be central to that growth.

You will be working in partnership with a Product Design Lead, supported by a tight family of talented front-end and back-end engineers, and some kick-ass PMs to ensure that our template designers, and Creators alike have the best experience when using and publishing templates. You’ll not only get to deliver products that our 50 million users touch, but also work closely with internal graphic designers to improve the tools they use day to day to power Canva’ library.

  • Improve the performance of Creator Dashboards, taking the next steps in unlocking data-based insights for our community. From payment, to performance, to popularity, we want our Creators to be excited to find their niche and see their performance skyrocket through clearly communicated data and financial information.
  • Participate in creating the vision for an “Inspiration Hub” for our Creators. Mixing great data visualisation with design education and resources to motivate Creators, the Inspiration Hub will be a one-stop shop for motivating Creators to design impactful content around the world.
  • Build out “Intrinsic Motivators” throughout the product—building incentives and communities that motivate our Creators to participate. Rather than a focus on payment alone, we’d love our Creators to be motivated by community, doing good, learning, and feedback on their work. This designer will examine all the ways we can build a system of motivation within our product that encourages and empowers Creators to make the best content possible.

What you’ll do

  • Empower our Canva Creators with beautiful data visualisations and dashboards that inform and motivate them to create the most impactful content
  • Investigate inspiration and motivation for Creators, and build out a best-in-class Creator experience to encourage participation and engagement
  • Foster Creator communities within the product, helping them to connect with each other, our Education team, and their users, growing our community spirit and Creator engagement with the platform
  • Collaborate with the Design Lead and Product Manager on a strategy and vision for this space
  • Work collaboratively with other design leads both within and without the Creators team, to create a holistic and consistent Creator experience across all touchpoints
  • Build the product features that will help millions of people to sell their designs on Canva
  • Gather learnings to iterate through research and data—we have a close relationship with our Beta users which enables us to unearth valuable insights to improve their experience
  • Bring a little “Canva magic” to the publishing experience
  • Have an impact on millions of users who sign up or login to Canva every month

What we’re looking for

  • A portfolio that demonstrates experience in product thinking where you have previously shipped UX/UI design for digital products
  • You love working with data or information visualisation, and excel at making complex sets of data easy to understand for regular users
  • You're an end-to-end Product Designer (from research through to visual design)
  • You are excited by regularly coming up with new ideas, shipping new products and features that address your users’ real needs.
  • You are an empathetic user advocate that values the backing of research and data analysis when it comes to design
  • You are a problem solver that’s excited by a challenge. You enjoy sitting in a room collaborating on ideas to confidently come up with simple solutions that everyone can move forward with
  • You are an excellent communicator, you seek understanding first and strive to communicate clearly in a helpful way;
  • You enjoy a little flexibility in your work. Our growth means there are constantly new things to work on every day, as such it’s likely that you’ll often be working across the board on new and exciting projects.
  • You know when to be scrappy to get something delivered, and when to push back to really uncover the root user need
  • You appreciate big picture thinking. While details are everything, creating an experience that always keeps our users in mind is equally as important.
  • You are comfortable at formulating hypotheses and leading them with the team from ideation to execution and drive those learnings back to the team and organization
