Our International Product Marketing team’s mission is to generate customer insights that inform Stripe’s product strategy, lead the go-to-market strategy and launches for the suite of Stripe products and solutions, and drive product adoption in partnership with customer-facing and product teams around the globe.

We’re looking for an experienced, analytical, and collaborative product marketer to help inform product development and business strategy with local market and user insights, to drive go-to-market for our product portfolio in Japan, and to drive adoption of Stripe products with locally-relevant messaging, positioning, and content. We’re looking for someone who will articulately differentiate our offerings and identify the audiences we should be targeting. This individual will partner with our Japan product & engineering, sales, partnerships, and marketing teams among others, as they build campaigns to bring new products to market and drive their adoption. 

We’re looking for someone with experience building thoughtful go-to-market strategy for products and an ability to turn technical concepts into valuable messages for customers. You are an analytical problem solver that has deep compassion for the needs of our users. Your excellent writing skills in English and Japanese allow you to adapt how we communicate to best engage our audience—from developers to CFOs—and differentiate Stripe. 

You are: 

  • A storyteller. You have deep empathy for users and are able to adapt how you communicate to best reach and engage your audience—from developer to CFO—and differentiate Stripe. You have excellent verbal and written communication skills in Japanese and English.
  • An expert on the Japan market. You have a strong understanding and appreciation for the nuances of how to successfully build products and drive their adoption in a Japanese context. 
  • Data-oriented. You like working with data and insights and pair that with your passion for users to generate balanced and thoughtful points of view for how to take our products to market.
  • Organized. You are able to manage highly interdependent, complex projects and keep various workstreams on track.
  • Passionate about technology. You are keen to learn about how things work and are able to explain technical concepts in ways that everyday people can understand.

You will: 

  • Advocate for our existing and prospective users in Japan, be informed about our competitive landscape, and become the product marketing expert for Japan to help shape the product roadmap and go-to-market strategy.
  • Produce dynamic content that will be used in campaigns and activations by our demand generation, field marketing, and partner marketing teams. 
  • Partner with the Product and Growth Marketing teams to track the right metrics and execute campaigns that drive awareness and adoption on an ongoing basis.
  • Drive launches for our products by working closely with a range of cross-functional teams—product managers, sales, design, PR, and engineering.
  • Be an expert on the competitive landscape of where similar products or solutions exist and craft compelling narratives that differentiate Stripe’s offering.  
  • Understand how products are performing in Japan to give feedback to product teams for further improvements

Our ideal candidate will have: 

  • Relevant work experience that can span marketing, product marketing, product management, sales enablement, competitive analysis or strategic consulting.
  • 5-8+ years of go-to market experience working in technology, infrastructure, or platform companies is preferred. 
  • Proven track record of developing product positioning based on user insights and competitive intel.
  • Experience building internal- and external-facing content with a keen eye for design and excellent written and verbal communication in Japanese.
  • Experience working on cross-functional and inter-departmental projects.
  • A startup mentality with a bias to action and the ability to flex in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity generating user insights via qualitative and quantitative research projects.
  • Comfort working with vendors and agencies to develop content.
  • Past experience in a sales role or proven deep empathy for sales teams is useful. 
  • BA/BS degree (in lieu of degree, 4 years of relevant work experience).

It’s not expected that any single candidate would have expertise across all of these areas—we’re looking for candidates that are particularly strong in a few areas, and have interest in developing new capabilities.
