We believe that the way people interact with their finances will drastically improve in the next few years. We’re dedicated to empowering this transformation by building the tools and experiences that thousands of developers use to create their own products.  Plaid powers the tools millions of people rely on to live a healthier financial life. We work with thousands of companies like Venmo and SoFi, several of the Fortune 500, and many of the largest banks to make it easy for people to connect their financial accounts to the apps and services they want to use. Plaid’s network covers 11,000 financial institutions across the US, Canada, UK and Europe. Founded in 2013, the company is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in New York, Salt Lake City, Washington D.C., London and Amsterdam.

About our team
The design team at Plaid is made up of brand designers, product designers, systems designers, writers, program managers, and researchers who work hand in hand with our peers in marketing, product management and engineering to create Plaid’s market defining products.

What you’ll do here
You’ll be joining Threads Brand, a team devoted to all things related to Plaid’s brand. As a seasoned interactive designer, you’ll be working closely with product managers, marketers, engineers and—of course—other designers to ensure we’re delivering a high-quality experience on our website.

What excites you

  • Reimagining how a website looks, feels, and functions based on brand, business, and user needs
  • Brainstorming solutions alongside incredibly smart, hardworking people from across engineering, product, marketing, and design
  • Using UX best practices and tools (e.g., journey maps, jobs-to-be-done frameworks, etc.) and data to develop user-centric solutions
  • Leading projects from the early stages of defining criteria, strategy, and success metrics through to pixel-perfect execution
  • Actively using and contributing to our design system components and patterns—while also knowing when to make an exception for a more bespoke approach
  • Treating a CMS as a platform and internal product that allows companies to scale up their web presences without sacrificing quality
  • Working with program management, design leadership, and engineering to champion efficiency in our processes
  • Taking an iterative, collaborative approach at every step, from early wireframing to final QAing
  • Working autonomously and navigating ambiguity
  • Partnering with and mentoring other designers

What excites us

  • At least 8 years of experience in agency and/or startup space working with large, complex web design initiatives
  • Business domain knowledge—an understanding of how to measure success across campaigns, product launches, and other web-based initiatives
  • Quality in craft—an excellent sense of typography, color theory, and composition when delivering beautiful, high-impact digital experiences
  • Being a team player—excellent communication skills and a consistent track record of collaborating across teams and disciplines
  • Strategic, user-centric thinking—we ground our solutions in what’s best for our users
  • Humility and having a growth mindset—we believe in big ambitions but not big egos, and that feedback is a critical part of good design
  • Fluency Figma or similar software
  • Experience working with a CMS (preferably headless, like Contentful)
  • Frontend coding experience (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus
  • Interest in copywriting is a plus
  • Startup and agency experience are a plus
