More than one-third of the food produced in the world is wasted. And that has a huge impact on the health of our planet, with 10% of greenhouse gas emissions coming from food waste.

At Too Good To Go, we have an ambitious goal: To inspire and empower everyone to fight food waste together. We are the world's #1 app for fighting food waste and we work with thousands of restaurants and food retailers to make their surplus food available to local consumers. The magic of Too Good To Go has expanded rapidly across Europe, the US, and Canada, with over 240 million meals saved across our 17 countries to date.

We’re proud of what we’ve achieved so far, but did we mention the issue is huge? We always want to raise the bar and that’s where you come in.

Your mission:

Joining Too Good To Go as a Head of UX Research, not only will you lead the user research team to drive user and partner experience, but you will also be a strategic partner to the leadership team across Product Management, Product Design and Product Analytics.

You will manage and oversee the practical needs of product development by building a base of foundational knowledge that covers all facets of user needs, motivations and desired experiences along the product experience. You are expected to generate and synthesise insights around

complex product and design problems, rationalising them into clear actionable solutions, and helping gain the support of executive stakeholders, while coordinating with partners across the company in prioritisation and execution.

 Other responsibilities include:

  • Manage and mentor the research team with a focus on quality, vision, and growth of skills across Too Good To Go
  • Collaborate with Product vertical leaders to understand research needs and work cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders including, but not limited to, data Scientists, Designers, Product Managers and Engineers to discover user pain points.
  • Conduct research in conjunction with priority areas, using several methods such as Exploratory research, UX testing, interviews, surveys, heuristic evaluations, card sorting, focus groups, behavioural studies and more.
  • Lead and drive innovation for users and partners on a global scale.
  • Collaborate with Design, Product Management, and Leadership to develop strategies for communicating research insights that build conviction and influence strategic decision-making at the executive level.
  • Serve as a thought leader to guide and influence the direction of the product, using qualitative and qualitative research, driving the teams to discover gaps, identify opportunities, and create solutions.
  • Manage staffing needs, budgetary considerations, and vendor/tools for research functions.

The ideal Candidate:

  • Strong working knowledge of UX and UX Design principles
  • A degree in Human Computer Interactions, psychology, sociology, cognitive science, or other relevant fields is advantageous.
  • Experience working collaboratively with Directors and Executive Stakeholders in cross-functional organisations.
  • Technical knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to lead a research team through influence in an ambiguous space, working to define methods and approaches.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate positions and advocate for the designs.
  • You have an excellent research portfolio, showcasing your success and failure in integrating large-scale research programs throughout the product lifecycle, with an emphasis on programs focused on digital, global products with examples of using insights to help drive innovation.

Our Values

  • We win together: Food waste is a big beast to fight. We can do it if we win together as Waste Warriors with no ego. We believe in a #oneteam.
  • We raise the bar: We always push for more. We work smart, smash barriers and elevate one another.
  • We keep it simple: Our ambitions are bold but our solutions are simple.
  • We build a legacy: We’re proud of the change we’re driving.
  • We care: We always look out for each other. Caring is also about the way we do business. We do the right thing.

What we have to offer

  • An opportunity to work in a social impact company (and certified B Corporation!) where you get to wake up every day knowing you’re achieving positive change.
  • The experience of being part of an international company with 1200+ enthusiastic and highly talented teammates across 17 countries (and growing).
  • Strong personal as well as professional development in an intense and high-growth scale-up environment.
  • An open company culture where you have the independence and room to unleash your creativity and celebrate successes together.
  • Work-life balance is important to us! Focus on the job to be done, not the hours spent, there is no need for overtime. We believe happy environments, create happy employees.
  • We trust in our employees and encourage an autonomous environment that provides several opportunities for employees to contribute, develop and take ownership of your work in a way that works for you.
