Head of Product Excellence Methodology

San Francisco, CA

We’re looking for a passionate, dynamic, product- and customer-obsessed individual to spearhead the development and activation of our Product Excellence methodology.

Product Excellence is the name of a product management framework that emphasizes getting the right products to market faster through deep user insight, a clear product strategy, and an inspiring roadmap. It reflects a shared goal for product managers who strive to make products that truly matter.

In the first two months, you’ll lead the synthesis and creation of a comprehensive methodology for product excellence, working closely with our CEO and go-to-market leaders. From there, you will drive its influence in the market, ensuring it’s ingrained in the way we guide our customers as well as operate internally across all departments. The ideal candidate will have experience in product management, working directly with product teams, and/or helping customers mature in their product management discipline.

Ultimately, you will help cement Productboard’s leadership in our emerging category, and help product teams around the world modernize their product practice.

On a typical day, you will...

  • Develop Product Excellence from a framework to a comprehensive product management methodology, in close partnership with Productboard execs
  • Produce compelling content that codifies the methodology into foundational publications and collateral
  • Evangelize and amplify our thought leadership to the broader product community, in partnership with marketing — by participating in events, webinars, and other activities
  • Work closely with product operations and product leadership to ensure we are integrating our methodology in the way we develop and take products to market
  • Be the internal champion and expert for all customer-facing teams, helping enable our go-to-market frontlines so they can serve as trusted advisors to our customers
  • Help build internal, customer-facing, and partner-facing training and certifications programs around Product Excellence
  • Support key customer engagements, and help guide customers towards greater maturity — which may involve workshops, consultations, and custom strategies

About you

  • You have 8+ years of work experience, ideally in product management, product operations, product strategy, management consulting, or a customer-facing role working with product leaders
  • You’re a strong writer and natural storyteller, who can translate academic and complex product concepts into clear, actionable content
  • You’re both strategic and hands-on, able to balance high-level thought leadership with practical execution — delivering tangible value for product organizations
  • You bring a consultative mindset — you love to help customers and internal teams alike succeed through your guidance and coaching towards best practices
  • You have a passion for the product management discipline and strong empathy for product makers striving to create exceptional products
  • You excel at collaborating across departments, influencing senior leaders, and aligning diverse stakeholders around your strategy and plans
  • You have strong project management and organization skills — you’re detail oriented and can drive multiple initiatives forward independently

Why You'll Love Working Here:

  • Be part of building the world’s first and best product management platform that fundamentally changes how our industry approaches the craft of product management.
  • Opportunity to impact the trajectory of a high-growth product organization.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented culture with smart, innovative colleagues.
  • Competitive salary and benefits, including stock options.

You can look forward to the following benefits:

  • Competitive compensation, stock options, company 401k
  • A budget for your professional development and ongoing learning
  • Flexible PTO and paid sick days
  • Life insurance and disability coverage
  • Carrot Fertility Benefits
  • 1 Volunteer Day per year for you to help causes close to your heart
  • 8 weeks of Paternity leave and 12 weeks of Maternity leave
  • Mental Wellness Program to support your well-being and self-care
  • Company contribution to gym and wellness memberships
  • Commuter benefits
  • Company contribution and access to best-in-class health benefits and your own Soulmio membership
