Job Description
As Signifyd’s first Head of Product and Privacy Counsel in the Legal department, you will be a key leader in our Legal team. Reporting directly to Signifyd’s General Counsel, this is a high visibility, high impact role and offers an exciting opportunity to build a product and privacy legal function.
You will drive Signifyd’s privacy function, handling all legal issues related to privacy, security, and data matters in close partnership with Security, IT, Legal and other colleagues, across Signifyd. You will also be responsible for partnering with our Product, Data Science and Engineering teams, among others, to guide development of our products and services to meet strategic objectives, all while following applicable laws and regulations across various industries and markets.
You should enjoy close collaboration with legal and non-legal colleagues, be a player / coach and generally, approach legal issues practically and with a problem solving mindset.
This position can be based anywhere in the US, either fully remote or in one of our offices (preferred Bay Area/San Jose or NYC).
Primary Responsibilities
- Drive the overall vision and implementation of an international privacy program, with an emphasis on scalability.
- Partner closely with our security and IT teams on information security and data protection matters.
- Support Signifyd Product, Data Science and Engineering teams in the development and release of new products, features and entry into new verticals / markets.
- Run the product and privacy legal function at Signifyd (including establishing and driving OKRs and overseeing the budget of the function).
- As a senior member of the legal team, support, train and mentor a high performing team of lawyers and other legal team members, and work across the organization to develop and implement efficient and scalable privacy practices.
Requirements
- J.D. with strong academic credentials and demonstrated record of success as a lawyer and member of local State Bar or eligible to register as Registered In-House Counsel.
- 8-10+ years of experience, including at least 5+ years in-house.
- Significant privacy experience, including but not limited to prior experience building and scaling a global privacy program.
- Experience counseling product teams on compliance with regulations, particularly in payments, fintech, identity, or commerce.
- Exceptional organizational, project management and prioritization skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and facilitation skills, with a strong customer-focused orientation.
Preferred qualifications
- Familiarity with data analytics and machine learning models.
- CIP, CIPM or other privacy or security certification strongly preferred.

The annual US base salary range for this role is $187,000 - $281,750 plus bonus, equity, and benefits.
