Reporting to the EVP, Product & Design, the Director of Product Design will lead a design team responsible for designing best-in-class experiences for Olo's white-label SaaS ordering platform. You will work alongside with engineers, product managers, and other team members throughout the software development lifecycle. We ask that you have a pragmatic mindset with a user-centered and data-informed approach to design solutions, with an understanding of contemporary design methodologies, enterprise software, Design Systems, and working with complex experiences.
This is a full-time position. The Director of Product Design will report to the EVP of Product & Design.
What You'll Do
- Work with the EVP of Product & Design to set the Product Design strategy for Olo's design process, and align team goals with our priorities and outcomes.
- Promote and advocate product design processes and cultural change throughout the organization to enhance the importance of good design. Empower the product design and UXR teams to evangelize and promote the design vision across the organization.
- Understand enterprise goals and measurements to ensure value is delivered against them.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to execute the product roadmap and produce measurable results that support our goals.
- Facilitate brainstorming and work sessions with cross-functional teams to move research findings into vision and design strategies.
- Balance adherence to strict methodological standards with the need for lean design and research.
- Own the end-to-end design process, ensuring timely, detailed, and polished deliverables. Provide hands-on design assistance to your team.
- Stay up-to-date with developments in the product design field and apply new approaches to design where applicable.
- Hire, manage and mentor designers, researchers, and design system engineers. Conduct annual and mid-year reviews, reviewing individual development plans and providing performance feedback.
What We'll Expect From You
- 5+ years of user experience and visual design for software or web applications which use emergent technologies, eCommerce and enterprise design.
- 3+ years of managing Design teams.
- Demonstrate a portfolio of work with a track record for solving difficult UX and visual design problems with mobile layouts in mind.
- Knowledge of Sketch, Figma, Marvelapp, and other design tools.
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Experience collaborating with product development teams.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple work streams.
- Experience guiding or managing user research and usability testing.
- Experience presenting design concepts to colleagues, partners, team members, and executives.
- Desire for innovation, balanced with our needs and user expectations
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
