About Abridge

Abridge was founded in 2018 with the mission of powering deeper understanding in healthcare. Our AI-powered platform was purpose-built for medical conversations, improving clinical documentation efficiencies while enabling clinicians to focus on what matters most—their patients.

Our enterprise-grade technology transforms patient-clinician conversations into structured clinical notes in real-time, with deep EMR integrations. Powered by Linked Evidence and our purpose-built, auditable AI, we are the only company that maps AI-generated summaries to ground truth, helping providers quickly trust and verify the output. As pioneers in generative AI for healthcare, we are setting the industry standards for the responsible deployment of AI across health systems.

We are a growing team of practicing MDs, AI scientists, PhDs, creatives, technologists, and engineers working together to empower people and make care make more sense. We have offices located in the Mission District in San Francisco, the SoHo neighborhood of New York, and East Liberty in Pittsburgh.

The Role

Abridge’s ability to deliver the most forward-looking, delightful clinician user experience is at the core of our product strategy and company’s future success. Simplifying clinician workflows elegantly will be the differentiator that sets Abridge apart from the competition.

We are hiring a product design leader to lead the product vision, strategy, craft quality, and execution for the core Abridge experience. You will manage a team of PDs and partner closely with engineering, Product, UXR, ML, and clinical leaders. You will set the bar for design quality, guide our exploration and execution roadmaps, and ensure we deliver the table stakes and differentiated design required to win the market.

This is a San Francisco based hybrid role with 3 days in office.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead product design for the core experience. Define the core experience of the Abridge’s AI-powered clinician’s assistant across native and embedded experiences. Your team will design simple user experiences to clinicians that meaningfully reduce administrative work for clinicians. By being the most clinician-centric company in the space, Abridge will stay two steps ahead of the competition.

  • Drive design quality. Design from first principles, bringing clarity and simplicity to complex product and clinical workflows. Set and uphold a high bar for visual craft, interaction design, prototyping, AI fluency, and design systems. Lead the creation of a scalable design system that ensures user experience quality, consistency, and engineering velocity across products.

  • Lead and scale a world class product design team that can span strategy, crafting pixels, and shipping code. Inspire a team of product designers to do the best work of their careers. Designers on your team will partner closely with UXR & Product to drive user-centric product strategy, sweat the details over user experience quality, and also fluently use AI tools and ship code. The person who joins this role will feel confident in holding design to this bar.

  • Partner cross-functionally to deliver impact Collaborate deeply with Product, UXR, Engineering, Marketing, and Clinical Success to shape strategy and deliver cohesive, end-to-end experiences. Balance long-term product vision with a strong weekly shipping cadence. Ensure design is integrated early and meaningfully in the product development lifecycle.

What You Bring

  • 5 to 10+ years of product design experience who is comfortable operating at both strategic and tactical levels—setting vision while reviewing pixels.

  • Experience managing product designers and a track record of hiring and scaling high performance product design teams.

  • Strong craft fluency across product thinking, interaction design, visual design, design systems, communication, & AI prototyping

  • Ability to balance long term vision with near term improvements and constraints

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex clinician workflows into clear narratives and points of view on what matters most.

  • A leader who is motivated by ambiguity, moves fast, and inspires others to do the same.

Bonus Points If…

  • You have worked in clinical, healthcare, or regulated environments

  • You have implemented a design system within a legacy product

  • You have experience vibe coding or experience shipping large scale AI products with human in the loop workflows
