Let’s talk about Product Design🌟

We are looking for an experienced Director of Product Design to lead our product design and research team in order to deliver the best experience possible to our clients and users. You will achieve this through setting the strategy for growth for the team as we move through this scale-up phase.

Through your leadership, strategy and vision, you will manage the Heads of Product Design across our different customer segments: Couriers, Clients and Operators. You will be accountable for delivering cohesive, impactful, responsive and performant interfaces across our various products' spanning multiple contexts and device ecosystems.

We need someone who can provide strong support to teams; guide processes and ways of working and advocate for a user-centric mindset. As the product design practice and culture at Stuart scales and matures to fulfill its purpose to help the company expand operations across multiple markets and verticals; we need a Director of Product Design that will advocate for and enable high-quality outputs to be able to deliver a best-in-class interaction that reflects our dynamic, fresh, bold and sustainable brand at a competitive pace.

What will I be doing? 🤔

  • Defining the Product Design vision and working with the leadership team and designers to ensure its successful delivery
  • Coaching and mentoring the Heads of Design, working with them to build unified trust and impact across the company
  • Improving, and nurturing the design culture at StuartLeveraging your team to help make Stuart’s products and services a key differentiator in the market
  • Promoting Stuart’s design culture both internally and to the broader design community, identifying and pursuing opportunities to increase employee branding and attract new talent
  • Ensuring and elevating team happiness by encouraging a fun and challenging work environment where the design team can grow and thrive
  • Seeking out opportunities to leverage design as a value-add to other areas of the business. For example, new business lines, market launches, alignment with brand and marketing, etc
  • Developing a deep understanding of our business operations and our product portfolios impact on our competitive offerings
  • Consistently syncing with the ships and convoys to bring alignment, managing team allocation, and ensuring that we reduce understaffing or overstaffing of the Product Design team
  • Overseeing the team budget ensuring that we track and fall within quarterly and yearly budgets
  • Partnering with talent Acquisition to ensure we have a steady pipeline of candidates to help grow the team or manage attrition
  • Partnering with HR to ensure that the product design and UX research teams are well supported in terms of learning, and personal development
  • Exemplifying and taking ownership for maintaining and improving our defined design process
  • Creating the strategy for hiring and resourcing product designers and UX researchers which aligns with broader team and company goals
  • Advocate for quality across all of our products, supporting and enabling the continued rollout of our design system and best practices.

What do we need from you? 😎

  • You have experience scaling large and diverse teams
  • You have experience working with a complex suite of products that expand across international markets and user-archetypes
  • You have experience working closely with researchers, engineering teams, product managers, analysts, and UX writers
  • You are passionate about product design excellence and feel naturally inclined to share and promote a design-centric mindset across the business
  • You consider yourself a bar-raiser that defines what a best-in-class product looks like and aren’t afraid to pause initiatives or rethink designs that lower the quality of our user experience
  • You have a critical eye for inefficient processes
  • You have hands-on experience managing design teams in an agile product development environment
  • You are a problem-solver who proactively connects the dots across departments
  • You’re a fantastic storyteller and believe in the importance of intentional and open communication
  • You make decisions based on experience, data and insights considering the big picture and impact these can have at company level
  • You enjoy coaching teams to help them develop themselves whilst contributing to our company purpose and objectives
  • You are able to work at macro and micro levels to fully understand the direct needs of your team and also the broader business
  • Given the importance of relationship building, it is ideal that you are able to work from either the Barcelona or Paris offices on occasion.
