Performance Platform is building the foundational layer of Spotify’s advertising business. It is a cross-functional group that encompasses everything from product designer to machine learning engineers (and everything in between). We are focused on building robust, reusable, and reliable capabilities for the rest of the company to build upon.
The Design Team in Performance Platform works across a wide range of business-critical product initiatives — from extending Spotify’s design system to support ad formats and tooling, to developing new audio-forward ad formats, to setting the long-term vision for brands on Spotify, to building exceptional internal tools to support our rapidly scaling ads business. Since everything we build is, at its core, a capability for other teams to build upon, we take deep pride in being deeply customer focused, and detail obsessed.
We are looking for an experienced Product Design Manager to join our team and support a growing group of highly-skilled designers, at a moment of inflection for our business.
This will be an exciting period where you will get to exercise your own hard-won skills and have ample opportunity to expand and develop new ones.
What You'll Do:
- Directly manage a rapidly growing team, working on business critical projects
- Partner with individual designers to support their personal and professional growth
- Create an environment where designers at multiple levels can do the best work of their careers
- Grow the team to meet our own ambitious goals
- Partner with senior designers to develop design strategies for our key initiatives
- Coordinate with partner design teams across the company and evanglise for our team’s work across Spotify at large
- Influence and interpret product strategy in partnership with product leadership
- Partner with Design Program Management to develop frameworks and rituals to support the team’s happiness and productivity
Who You Are:
- You have managed a team of product or content designers before
- You love working closely with product managers, user research teams, and engineering leads
- You have a keen eye for detail and can give effective direction and feedback to designers at different states in their career
- You have experience recruiting and building product design teams
- You have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- You have a people-focused management philosophy
- You have experience supporting planning for complex and interrelated bodies of work
- You are pragmatic about balancing speed and quality; know opportunities and risky work
