As an Associate Product Manager, you will be a key contributor to the success of D2L’s Product Management organization through direct and indirect product work. You will partner with an experienced Product Manager and development team to identify, define, and execute on highly impactful features for our clients, as needed, from these channels. Through these interactions and supported professional development, you will grow your product management skills into a full Product Manager at D2L.  

The selected candidate will have a strong interest and knowledge in Edtech and/or Learning Management Software (LMS), understand basic software development concepts, be a creative and strategic thinker, continuous learner, and strong advocate for our clients. Experience with D2L’s Brightspace would be ideal. 

This role will be instrumental in representing the Product Management organization to our clients and prospects, as well as being an important contributor to current and future, strategic product direction 

Responsibilities:

  • Assistance with developing the product roadmap, backlog and prioritization 
  • Gain deep experience, knowledge and eventually ownership in areas of D2L’s products Take guidance and promptly action tasks and action items as assigned by the Product Manager or Senior Product Manager Assist in analyzing data and feedback for decision making on the roadmap and priorities 
  • Represent the Product Manager or Senior Product Manager in their absence  

Competencies: 

  • Understanding of Brightspace core features and workflows, including administrative features  
  • Self-starter with proven success in working with cross functional teams  
  • Individual must be a creative thinker, confident and able communication in a friendly and clear manner – especially to clients.  
  • Prior experience with communicating strategic priorities and decisions to external and internal audiences.   
  • Measure and communicate progress using data 
  • Collaborates with Development and Design colleagues on features, prioritization, and execution 
  • Participate in user empathy and discovery sessions planned by others 
  • Sense of urgency and desire to get the job or task assigned done promptly and to the best of your abilities 
  • Own and become a subject matter expert in the area assigned

Skills 

  • A good understanding of current web, data, cloud and mobile technologies  
  • Ability to actively manage competing priorities and meet deadlines  
  • Ability to take a leadership role when making data driven decisions  
  • A sharp wit and finely tuned sense of humor are desired 
  • Ability to follow a vision and strategy created by others 
  • Ability to create a backlog plan from a roadmap 
  • Gap Analysis 
  • Familiarity with Jira 

Experience and Education Recommendations: 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Education or a related field.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining data accuracy and documentation.

The expected base salary range for a new hire in this role is listed below. The annualized base salary offered is determined by each candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, education, training and experience. It is aligned to ensure both internal and external competitiveness using market data for the geographic location and industry. As part of the total compensation at D2L the role may be eligible for additional benefits including a Wellness Subsidy, Equity Grants, Variable Incentive, and more.

Base Salary Range
$80,000$110,000 CAD
