Casuistry is a method of moral reasoning pioneered by Jesuit thinkers, beginning with St. Ignatius 500 years ago, which asks one to “Set aside principles. Descend into the particulars”. This is not about abandoning your principles. Instead, it pushes on the order in which you call your principles into the reasoning process. Approach the problem as its own unique situation that requires your attention and care.

In the Mercury product world, instead of starting with a general rule or philosophy that guides the way a PM investigates a problem, we push to find out exactly what is going on in the life and heart and mind of a customer in order to truly understand the nature of the problems they are facing.

Mercury is a collection of incredibly helpful, creative, humble humans working together to defy expectations and reimagine banking. We do so with a focus on building high-craft, simple, and powerful product experiences.

And our Expansion team is building the newest product lines for our fast growing customers who are facing challenges with the increased scale and complexity of their business operations. These teams not only need to launch zero-to-one products, but also build strong businesses from those initial offerings. We are obsessively focused on delivering a high quality end-to-end experience and believe Mercury should be magical from day one, whether running a single e-commerce side hustle or scaling a unicorn tech company.

We are looking for Senior Product Managers who can build with a high bar for quality while still executing with precision. In this role, you’ll be responsible for deeply understanding your customers, designing how your product area interacts with and impacts the other Mercury products and end-to-end system, and driving towards the overarching business and financial goals.

*Mercury is a financial technology company, not a bank. Banking services provided by Choice Financial Group and Evolve Bank & Trust, Members FDIC.

Responsibilities

  • Set the direction and define prioritized roadmaps for the team; ensuring we’re focused  on work that solves customer problems and maximizes business value
  • Independently lead and drive product initiatives for your team
  • Own the strategy and execution of your product area within Mercury and regularly present your work to company leadership
  • Contribute to the visioning, sequencing, and execution of a multi-phased approach to build not only a product, but also a business line
  • Run team meetings and direct product team operations collaboratively with your engineering counterpart, tech leads, designers, user researchers, and data scientist
  • Work in ambiguity and be able to set and achieve priorities that find the perfect balance between both customer and business needs
  • Partner with Mercury’s design team to define and enforce a set of quality and craft
  • Translate qualitative and quantitative data and derive insights that inform product work; communicate these with the team
  • Proactively discover and define opportunities to level up the craft, strategy, and execution of our broader Expansion team

We’re looking for a motivated product leader who cares deeply about craft and feels energized by opportunities to work on ambiguous, new product areas. A successful candidate will likely have:

  • 7+ years of relevant product management experience, preferably working with vertical products with some amount of P&L accountability.
  • The ability to operate independently to turn ambiguous and complex problems into concrete vision, strategy, and execution plans.
  • Enthusiasm about the idea of working with talented (and opinionated) design and engineering peers.
  • The ability to take complex problems from end to end (contributing to research, design, engineering, GTM, and stakeholder management) autonomously.

The total rewards package at Mercury includes base salary, equity (stock options), and benefits.

Our salary and equity ranges are highly competitive within the SaaS and fintech industry and are updated regularly using the most reliable compensation survey data for our industry. New hire offers are made based on a candidate’s experience, expertise, geographic location, and internal pay equity relative to peers.

Our target new hire base salary ranges for this role are the following:

  • US employees (any location): $203,100 - $238,900 USD
  • Canadian employees (any location): CAD 184,800 - 217,400

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

An "Armed forces service medal veteran" means a veteran who, while serving on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service, participated in a United States military operation for which an Armed Forces service medal was awarded pursuant to Executive Order 12985.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
