Slate is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a product manager. In this position, you will play a pivotal role in the development and execution of product strategies to drive engagement, growth, and revenue on Slate.com. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, UX, subscription, and editorial, to deliver innovative products that meet the needs of our audience and align with business objectives. This role requires a deep understanding of digital media trends, strong analytical skills, and a passion for creating exceptional user experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy Development: Work with senior management to define product vision, road map, and priorities based on market analysis, user feedback, and business goals
  • Feature Definition and Prioritization: Define product features and functionality, prioritize initiatives based on impact and feasibility, and create detailed requirements documentation
  • User Experience Optimization: Continuously analyze user behavior and feedback to identify opportunities for improving user experience, engagement, and retention
  • Project Management: Lead cross-functional teams through the product development life cycle, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products within budget and scope
  • Data-Driven Decision making: Utilize analytics and KPIs to track product performance, measure success, and make informed decisions to drive continuous improvement
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate product updates, road map changes, and key insights to stakeholders at all levels of the organization

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, computer science, or related field; or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of experience in product management, preferably in the digital media industry
  • Proven track record of successfully launching and managing digital products or platforms
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
  • Ability to think strategically, with a creative mindset and passion for innovation
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and project management tools
  • Knowledge of digital media technologies, content management systems, content distribution platforms, and the advertising ecosystem
  • Familiarity with product management tools and software (e.g., Jira, Asana, Trello) is a plus
