About the Visual Content Team

In the Visual Content Team, our mission is to make beautiful design accessible for everyone. With millions of users using Canva everyday, this is an opportunity to redefine visual communication and have a global impact on the way people communicate across print, social media, video, brand, and so much more. 

From branding to social media, posters to stickers, to videos and beyond, the Visual Content Design Team empowers our users to create stunningly beautiful content—by beginning their journey with a perfect and easily customizable template design. Canva’s templates team is building the world’s best design marketplace, with a library of designs that offer our users a wide variety of on-trend and usable content. We need the help of talented designers that can create and curate amazing visuals, to pave the way for the future of our design library.

About Canva Studio

The Canva Studio is part of our Visual Content team, creating templates for our many global partners that use Canva on their platforms. Working with clients is Canva Studio’s specialty, and this team forms an exciting bridge between our many partners and their success on Canva. We work directly with global clients to integrate, educate and enable them to use Canva in the best possible way. Our team of creative professionals provide strategic guidance, facilitate engaging educational opportunities, launch compelling campaigns, and even create assets to enable a client's internal teams to use Canva with ease. Canva Studio contributes directly to Canva’s business success by helping acquire, retain and grow partners on the platform.

About the role 

You will lead a team of multiple squads with an aim to create the world’s highest quality collection of content for Canva Studio’s clients. Working with a talented team of project managers, creatives and designers, the content you help create will be used by millions of people around the world.

As the Team Lead of Canva Studio you will be directing one of the fastest growing teams within template design. As this team is going through rapid growth it is important that you understand how to grow a team sustainably without disrupting the existing ecosystem. Leading this particular design team that works with all partner and client related requests, you will contribute directly to Canva’s success by helping your squads grow the client's content libraries and inform Canva’s product development through qualitative and quantitative data gathered in the projects. 

You will work closely with other Visual Content Team Leads to understand their roadmaps and ensure that our content evolves and leverages new features.

You are:

  • Excited by leading people, setting creative direction and empowering your tram to do the best work of their lives.
  • Comfortable driving change through the team and able to collaborate with Canvanauts across the business.
  • Always keen to learn new skills across design and leadership. Plus, you love keeping up to date with all creative trends.
  • Passionate about leading a high growth team through wins and things that didn't go so well. Accountability is key!

Responsibilities

  • Using your expertise to work with internal and external teams to deliver feedback with accuracy and empathy. You will be developing content and briefs that will help to make them successful
  • Work with the Operational Manager to develop your team in order to complete jobs to the best of their ability and on time.
  • Provide feedback to team members with sensitivity and integrity, helping them to grow and develop their skills
  • Ensuring that the content is always to an exceptionally high standard
  • Working closely with Canva’s product team to ensure that our content evolves with our clients/partners and encourages them to make phenomenal designs
  • Knowledge sharing - you will be driving research best-practice sessions. As well as sharing visual design inspiration and business insights with your team.
  • Ensure the team build assets with usability requirements in mind
  • Produce and integrate effective creative processes and practices
  • The team is has got some seriously big growth goals, so you'll also be working with our talent team to continue building and scaling the team. 

We’d love it if you have:

  • A proven track record as an Art Director or a Creative Lead in the design/creative field across a diverse range of content.
  • Experience leading a medium-sized team of creatives, and providing support and development for junior designers, senior designers and creative leads
  • A passion for writing simple and clear briefs, with demonstrated experience in commissioning all types of creatives
  • Excellent experience in dealing with clients, managing workflows and dealing with traffic managers daily.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating your passion for crafting high quality and diverse content
  • The confidence to try new things, and a passion for big ideas
  • The ability to brief creatives effectively to create breathtaking and quality designs
  • The ability to work collaboratively in acreative team environment;
  • Diligence to hit deadlines, and offer suggestions to streamline and improve team processes.
